Psalm 80
NLT Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationEnglish Standard Version
Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory1Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock. You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, shine forth.
to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us!2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up your might and come to save us!
Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.3Restore us, O God; let your face shine, that we may be saved!
O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers?4O LORD God of hosts, how long will you be angry with your people’s prayers?
You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful.5You have fed them with the bread of tears and given them tears to drink in full measure.
You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke.6You make us an object of contention for our neighbors, and our enemies laugh among themselves.
Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.7Restore us, O God of hosts; let your face shine, that we may be saved!
You brought us from Egypt like a grapevine; you drove away the pagan nations and transplanted us into your land.8You brought a vine out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.
You cleared the ground for us, and we took root and filled the land.9You cleared the ground for it; it took deep root and filled the land.
Our shade covered the mountains; our branches covered the mighty cedars.10The mountains were covered with its shade, the mighty cedars with its branches.
We spread our branches west to the Mediterranean Sea; our shoots spread east to the Euphrates River.11It sent out its branches to the sea and its shoots to the River.
But now, why have you broken down our walls so that all who pass by may steal our fruit?12Why then have you broken down its walls, so that all who pass along the way pluck its fruit?
The wild boar from the forest devours it, and the wild animals feed on it.13The boar from the forest ravages it, and all that move in the field feed on it.
Come back, we beg you, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Look down from heaven and see our plight. Take care of this grapevine14Turn again, O God of hosts! Look down from heaven, and see; have regard for this vine,
that you yourself have planted, this son you have raised for yourself.15the stock that your right hand planted, and for the son whom you made strong for yourself.
For we are chopped up and burned by our enemies. May they perish at the sight of your frown.16They have burned it with fire; they have cut it down; may they perish at the rebuke of your face!
Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice.17But let your hand be on the man of your right hand, the son of man whom you have made strong for yourself!
Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more.18Then we shall not turn back from you; give us life, and we will call upon your name!
Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.19Restore us, O LORD God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!
