After these things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, “Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the Lord our God! | 1After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, |
For true and righteous are His judgments, because He has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication; and He has avenged on her the blood of His servants shed by her.” | 2for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants." |
Again they said, “Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever!” | 3And again they shouted: "Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever." |
And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying, “Amen! Alleluia!” | 4The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried: "Amen, Hallelujah!" |
Then a voice came from the throne, saying, “Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!” | 5Then a voice came from the throne, saying: "Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!" |
And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, “Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! | 6Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: "Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. |
Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” | 7Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. |
And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. | 8Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear." (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God's holy people.) |
Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.” | 9Then the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!" And he added, "These are the true words of God." |
And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” | 10At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, "Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus." |
Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. | 11I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and wages war. |
His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. | 12His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. |
He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. | 13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. |
And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. | 14The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. |
Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. | 15Coming out of his mouth is a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter." He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. |
And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS. | 16On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: king of kings and lord of lords. |
Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, | 17And I saw an angel standing in the sun, who cried in a loud voice to all the birds flying in midair, "Come, gather together for the great supper of God, |
that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.” | 18so that you may eat the flesh of kings, generals, and the mighty, of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, great and small." |
And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army. | 19Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to wage war against the rider on the horse and his army. |
Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone. | 20But the beast was captured, and with it the false prophet who had performed the signs on its behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped its image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. |
And the rest were killed with the sword which proceeded from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse. And all the birds were filled with their flesh. | 21The rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh. |
