| 1“Judge not, that you be not judged. | 1“Do not judge, or you will be judged. |

| 22Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ | 22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ |
| 23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ | 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’ |
| 24“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: | 24Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. |
| 25and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. | 25The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. |
| 26“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: | 26But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. |
| 27and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” | 27The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell—and great was its collapse!” |
| 28And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, | 28When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astonished at His teaching, |
| 29for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. | 29because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their scribes. |
