NIV Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New International VersionInternational Standard Version
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.1Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His gracious love exists forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story-- those he redeemed from the hand of the foe,2Let those who have been redeemed by the LORD declare it— those whom he redeemed from the power of the enemy,
those he gathered from the lands, from east and west, from north and south.3those whom he gathered from other lands— from the east, west, north, and south.
Some wandered in desert wastelands, finding no way to a city where they could settle.4They wandered in desolate wilderness; they found no road to a city where they could live.
They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away.5Hungry and thirsty, their spirits failed.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.6Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle.7He led them in a straight way to find a city where they could live.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind,8Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and his awesome deeds for mankind.
for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.9He has satisfied the one who thirsts, filling the hungry with what is good.
Some sat in darkness, in utter darkness, prisoners suffering in iron chains,10Some sat in deepest darkness, shackled with cruel iron,
because they rebelled against God's commands and despised the plans of the Most High.11because they had rebelled against the command of God, despising the advice of the Most High.
So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help.12He humbled them through suffering, as they stumbled without a helper.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.13Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; he delivered them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.14And he brought them out from darkness and the shadow of death, shattering their chains.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind,15Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds to mankind.
for he breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.16For he shattered bronze gates and cut through iron bars.
Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities.17Because of their rebellious ways, fools suffered for their iniquities.
They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death.18They loathed all food, and even reached the gates of death.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.19Yet when they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, he delivered them from certain destruction.
He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.20He issued his command and healed them; he delivered them from their destruction.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.21Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love, and for his awesome deeds for mankind.
Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.22Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and talk about his works with shouts of joy.
Some went out on the sea in ships; they were merchants on the mighty waters.23Those who go down to the sea in ships, who work in the great waters,
They saw the works of the LORD, his wonderful deeds in the deep.24witnessed the works of the LORD— his awesome deeds in the ocean's depth.
For he spoke and stirred up a tempest that lifted high the waves.25He spoke and stirred up a windstorm that made its waves surge.
They mounted up to the heavens and went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away.26The people ascended skyward and descended to the depths, their courage melting away in their peril.
They reeled and staggered like drunkards; they were at their wits' end.27They reeled and staggered like a drunkard, as all their wisdom became useless.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.28Yet when they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, the LORD brought them out of their distress.
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed.29He calmed the storm and its waves quieted down.
They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven.30So they rejoiced that the waves became quiet, and he led them to their desired haven.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.31Let them give thanks to the LORD for his gracious love and for his awesome deeds on behalf of mankind.
Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders.32Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the counsel of the elders.
He turned rivers into a desert, flowing springs into thirsty ground,33He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into dry ground,
and fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who lived there.34and a fruitful land into a salty waste, due to the wickedness of its inhabitants.
He turned the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into flowing springs;35He turns a desert into a pool of water, dry land into springs of water.
there he brought the hungry to live, and they founded a city where they could settle.36There he settled the hungry, where they built a city to live in.
They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a fruitful harvest;37They sowed fields and planted vineyards that yielded a productive harvest.
he blessed them, and their numbers greatly increased, and he did not let their herds diminish.38Then he blessed them, and they became numerous; he multiplied their cattle.
Then their numbers decreased, and they were humbled by oppression, calamity and sorrow;39But they became few in number, and humiliated by continued oppression, agony, and sorrow.
he who pours contempt on nobles made them wander in a trackless waste.40Having poured contempt on their nobles, causing them to err aimlessly in the way.
But he lifted the needy out of their affliction and increased their families like flocks.41Yet he lifted the needy from affliction and made them families like a flock.
The upright see and rejoice, but all the wicked shut their mouths.42The upright see it and rejoice, but the mouth of an evil person is shut.
Let the one who is wise heed these things and ponder the loving deeds of the LORD.43Let whoever is wise observe these things, that they may comprehend the gracious love of the LORD.
