Praise the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are magnificent. You are robed in splendor and majesty. 1Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty,
He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain, 2Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain.
and lays the beams of the upper rooms of his palace on the rain clouds. He makes the clouds his chariot, and travels along on the wings of the wind. 3He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind;
He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. 4He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers.
He established the earth on its foundations; it will never be upended. 5He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever.
The watery deep covered it like a garment; the waters reached above the mountains. 6You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains.
Your shout made the waters retreat; at the sound of your thunderous voice they hurried off--7At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away.
as the mountains rose up, and the valleys went down--to the place you appointed for them. 8The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them.
You set up a boundary for them that they could not cross, so that they would not cover the earth again. 9You set a boundary that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth.
He turns springs into streams; they flow between the mountains. 10He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains;
They provide water for all the animals in the field; the wild donkeys quench their thirst. 11They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
The birds of the sky live beside them; they chirp among the bushes. 12Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; They lift up their voices among the branches.
He waters the mountains from the upper rooms of his palace; the earth is full of the fruit you cause to grow. 13He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.
He provides grass for the cattle, and crops for people to cultivate, so they can produce food from the ground, 14He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, And vegetation for the labor of man, So that he may bring forth food from the earth,
as well as wine that makes people feel so good, and so they can have oil to make their faces shine, as well as food that sustains people's lives. 15And wine which makes man's heart glad, So that he may make his face glisten with oil, And food which sustains man's heart.
The trees of the LORD receive all the rain they need, the cedars of Lebanon which he planted, 16The trees of the LORD drink their fill, The cedars of Lebanon which He planted,
where the birds make nests, near the evergreens in which the herons live. 17Where the birds build their nests, And the stork, whose home is the fir trees.
The wild goats live in the high mountains; the rock badgers find safety in the cliffs. 18The high mountains are for the wild goats; The cliffs are a refuge for the shephanim.
He made the moon to mark the months, and the sun sets according to a regular schedule. 19He made the moon for the seasons; The sun knows the place of its setting.
You make it dark and night comes, during which all the beasts of the forest prowl around. 20You appoint darkness and it becomes night, In which all the beasts of the forest prowl about.
The lions roar for prey, seeking their food from God. 21The young lions roar after their prey And seek their food from God.
When the sun rises, they withdraw and sleep in their dens. 22When the sun rises they withdraw And lie down in their dens.
Men then go out to do their work, and labor away until evening. 23Man goes forth to his work And to his labor until evening.
How many living things you have made, O LORD! You have exhibited great skill in making all of them; the earth is full of the living things you have made. 24O LORD, how many are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all; The earth is full of Your possessions.
Over here is the deep, wide sea, which teems with innumerable swimming creatures, living things both small and large. 25There is the sea, great and broad, In which are swarms without number, Animals both small and great.
The ships travel there, and over here swims the whale you made to play in it. 26There the ships move along, And Leviathan, which You have formed to sport in it.
All of your creatures wait for you to provide them with food on a regular basis. 27They all wait for You To give them their food in due season.
You give food to them and they receive it; you open your hand and they are filled with food. 28You give to them, they gather it up; You open Your hand, they are satisfied with good.
When you ignore them, they panic. When you take away their life's breath, they die and return to dust. 29You hide Your face, they are dismayed; You take away their spirit, they expire And return to their dust.
When you send your life-giving breath, they are created, and you replenish the surface of the ground. 30You send forth Your Spirit, they are created; And You renew the face of the ground.
May the splendor of the LORD endure! May the LORD find pleasure in the living things he has made! 31Let the glory of the LORD endure forever; Let the LORD be glad in His works;
He looks down on the earth and it shakes; he touches the mountains and they start to smolder. 32He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.
I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God as long as I exist! 33I will sing to the LORD as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
May my thoughts be pleasing to him! I will rejoice in the LORD. 34Let my meditation be pleasing to Him; As for me, I shall be glad in the LORD.
May sinners disappear from the earth, and the wicked vanish! Praise the LORD, O my soul! Praise the LORD! 35Let sinners be consumed from the earth And let the wicked be no more. Bless the LORD, O my soul. Praise the LORD!
