| 8And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz, | 8Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz. |
| 9And Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan, | 9Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah. Azariah was the father of Johanan. |
| 10And Johanan begat Azariah, (he it is that executed the priest's office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:) | 10Johanan was the father of Azariah, the high priest at the Temple built by Solomon in Jerusalem. |
| 11And Azariah begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub, | 11Azariah was the father of Amariah. Amariah was the father of Ahitub. |
| 12And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum, | 12Ahitub was the father of Zadok. Zadok was the father of Shallum. |
| 13And Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah, | 13Shallum was the father of Hilkiah. Hilkiah was the father of Azariah. |
| 14And Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak, | 14Azariah was the father of Seraiah. Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak, |

| 23Elkanah his son, and Ebiasaph his son, and Assir his son, | 23Elkanah, Abiasaph, Assir, |
| 24Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son, and Shaul his son. | 24Tahath, Uriel, Uzziah, and Shaul. |
| 25And the sons of Elkanah; Amasai, and Ahimoth. | 25The descendants of Elkanah included Amasai, Ahimoth, |
| 26As for Elkanah: the sons of Elkanah; Zophai his son, and Nahath his son, | 26Elkanah, Zophai, Nahath, |

| 28And the sons of Samuel; the firstborn Vashni, and Abiah. | 28The sons of Samuel were Joel (the older) and Abijah (the second). |
| 29The sons of Merari; Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzza his son, | 29The descendants of Merari included Mahli, Libni, Shimei, Uzzah, |

| 31And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of the LORD, after that the ark had rest. | 31David assigned the following men to lead the music at the house of the LORD after the Ark was placed there. |
| 32And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the LORD in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order. | 32They ministered with music at the Tabernacle until Solomon built the Temple of the LORD in Jerusalem. | 49But Aaron and his sons offered upon the altar of the burnt offering, and on the altar of incense, and were appointed for all the work of the place most holy, and to make an atonement for Israel, according to all that Moses the servant of God had commanded. | 49Only Aaron and his descendants served as priests. They presented the offerings on the altar of burnt offering and the altar of incense, and they performed all the other duties related to the Most Holy Place. They made atonement for Israel by doing everything that Moses, the servant of God, had commanded them. |

| 54Now these are their dwelling places throughout their castles in their coasts, of the sons of Aaron, of the families of the Kohathites: for theirs was the lot. | 54This is a record of the towns and territory assigned by means of sacred lots to the descendants of Aaron, who were from the clan of Kohath. |
| 55And they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, and the suburbs thereof round about it. | 55This territory included Hebron and its surrounding pasturelands in Judah, |
| 56But the fields of the city, and the villages thereof, they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh. | 56but the fields and outlying areas belonging to the city were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh. |
| 57And to the sons of Aaron they gave the cities of Judah, namely, Hebron, the city of refuge, and Libnah with her suburbs, and Jattir, and Eshtemoa, with their suburbs, | 57So the descendants of Aaron were given the following towns, each with its pasturelands: Hebron (a city of refuge), Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa, |
| 58And Hilen with her suburbs, Debir with her suburbs, | 58Holon, Debir, |
| 59And Ashan with her suburbs, and Bethshemesh with her suburbs: | 59Ain, Juttah, and Beth-shemesh. |
| 60And out of the tribe of Benjamin; Geba with her suburbs, and Alemeth with her suburbs, and Anathoth with her suburbs. All their cities throughout their families were thirteen cities. | 60And from the territory of Benjamin they were given Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, each with its pasturelands. So thirteen towns were given to the descendants of Aaron. |
| 61And unto the sons of Kohath, which were left of the family of that tribe, were cities given out of the half tribe, namely, out of the half tribe of Manasseh, by lot, ten cities. | 61The remaining descendants of Kohath received ten towns from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh by means of sacred lots. |
| 62And to the sons of Gershom throughout their families out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, thirteen cities. | 62The descendants of Gershon received by sacred lots thirteen towns from the territories of Issachar, Asher, Naphtali, and from the Bashan area of Manasseh, east of the Jordan. |
| 63Unto the sons of Merari were given by lot, throughout their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, twelve cities. | 63The descendants of Merari received by sacred lots twelve towns from the territories of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun. |
| 64And the children of Israel gave to the Levites these cities with their suburbs. | 64So the people of Israel assigned all these towns and pasturelands to the Levites. |
| 65And they gave by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, and out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities, which are called by their names. | 65The towns in the territories of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin, mentioned above, were assigned to them by means of sacred lots. |
| 66And the residue of the families of the sons of Kohath had cities of their coasts out of the tribe of Ephraim. | 66The descendants of Kohath were given the following towns from the territory of Ephraim, each with its pasturelands: |
| 67And they gave unto them, of the cities of refuge, Shechem in mount Ephraim with her suburbs; they gave also Gezer with her suburbs, | 67Shechem (a city of refuge in the hill country of Ephraim), Gezer, |
| 68And Jokmeam with her suburbs, and Bethhoron with her suburbs, | 68Jokmeam, Beth-horon, |
| 69And Aijalon with her suburbs, and Gathrimmon with her suburbs: | 69Aijalon, and Gath-rimmon. |
| 70And out of the half tribe of Manasseh; Aner with her suburbs, and Bileam with her suburbs, for the family of the remnant of the sons of Kohath. | 70The remaining descendants of Kohath were assigned the towns of Aner and Bileam from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh, each with its pasturelands. |
| 71Unto the sons of Gershom were given out of the family of the half tribe of Manasseh, Golan in Bashan with her suburbs, and Ashtaroth with her suburbs: | 71The descendants of Gershon received the towns of Golan (in Bashan) and Ashtaroth from the territory of the half-tribe of Manasseh, each with its pasturelands. |
| 72And out of the tribe of Issachar; Kedesh with her suburbs, Daberath with her suburbs, | 72From the territory of Issachar, they were given Kedesh, Daberath, |
| 73And Ramoth with her suburbs, and Anem with her suburbs: | 73Ramoth, and Anem, each with its pasturelands. |
| 74And out of the tribe of Asher; Mashal with her suburbs, and Abdon with her suburbs, | 74From the territory of Asher, they received Mashal, Abdon, |
| 75And Hukok with her suburbs, and Rehob with her suburbs: | 75Hukok, and Rehob, each with its pasturelands. |
| 76And out of the tribe of Naphtali; Kedesh in Galilee with her suburbs, and Hammon with her suburbs, and Kirjathaim with her suburbs. | 76From the territory of Naphtali, they were given Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim, each with its pasturelands. |
| 77Unto the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmon with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs: | 77The remaining descendants of Merari received the towns of Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmon, and Tabor from the territory of Zebulun, each with its pasturelands. |
| 78And on the other side Jordan by Jericho, on the east side of Jordan, were given them out of the tribe of Reuben, Bezer in the wilderness with her suburbs, and Jahzah with her suburbs, | 78From the territory of Reuben, east of the Jordan River opposite Jericho, they received Bezer (a desert town), Jahaz, |
| 79Kedemoth also with her suburbs, and Mephaath with her suburbs: | 79Kedemoth, and Mephaath, each with its pasturelands. |
| 80And out of the tribe of Gad; Ramoth in Gilead with her suburbs, and Mahanaim with her suburbs, | 80And from the territory of Gad, they received Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim, |
| 81And Heshbon with her suburbs, and Jazer with her suburbs. | 81Heshbon, and Jazer, each with its pasturelands. |
