Psalm 90
HCSB Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleNew Living Translation
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, You have been our refuge in every generation. 1Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!
Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, You are God. 2Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world, from beginning to end, you are God.
You return mankind to the dust, saying, "Return, descendants of Adam." 3You turn people back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, you mortals!”
For in Your sight a thousand years are like yesterday that passes by, like a few hours of the night. 4For you, a thousand years are as a passing day, as brief as a few night hours.
You end their lives; they sleep. They are like grass that grows in the morning-- 5You sweep people away like dreams that disappear. They are like grass that springs up in the morning.
in the morning it sprouts and grows; by evening it withers and dries up. 6In the morning it blooms and flourishes, but by evening it is dry and withered.
For we are consumed by Your anger; we are terrified by Your wrath. 7We wither beneath your anger; we are overwhelmed by your fury.
You have set our unjust ways before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence. 8You spread out our sins before you— our secret sins—and you see them all.
For all our days ebb away under Your wrath; we end our years like a sigh. 9We live our lives beneath your wrath, ending our years with a groan.
Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away. 10Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty. But even the best years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we fly away.
Who understands the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear that is due You. 11Who can comprehend the power of your anger? Your wrath is as awesome as the fear you deserve.
Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts. 12Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom.
LORD--how long? Turn and have compassion on Your servants. 13O LORD, come back to us! How long will you delay? Take pity on your servants!
Satisfy us in the morning with Your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days. 14Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.
Make us rejoice for as many days as You have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity. 15Give us gladness in proportion to our former misery! Replace the evil years with good.
Let Your work be seen by Your servants, and Your splendor by their children. 16Let us, your servants, see you work again; let our children see your glory.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands-- establish the work of our hands! 17And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!
