Psalm 90
HCSB Parallel ISV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleInternational Standard Version
A prayer of Moses, the man of God. Lord, You have been our refuge in every generation. 1Lord, you've been our refuge from generation to generation.
Before the mountains were born, before You gave birth to the earth and the world, from eternity to eternity, You are God. 2Before the mountains were formed or the earth and the world were brought forth, you are God from eternity to eternity.
You return mankind to the dust, saying, "Return, descendants of Adam." 3You return people to dust merely by saying, "Return, you mortals!"
For in Your sight a thousand years are like yesterday that passes by, like a few hours of the night. 4One thousand years in your sight are but a single day that passes by, just like a night watch.
You end their lives; they sleep. They are like grass that grows in the morning-- 5You will sweep them away while they are asleep— by morning they are like growing grass.
in the morning it sprouts and grows; by evening it withers and dries up. 6In the morning it blossoms and is renewed, but toward evening, it fades and withers.
For we are consumed by Your anger; we are terrified by Your wrath. 7Indeed, we are consumed by your anger and terrified by your wrath.
You have set our unjust ways before You, our secret sins in the light of Your presence. 8You have set our iniquities before you, what we have concealed in the light of your presence.
For all our days ebb away under Your wrath; we end our years like a sigh. 9All our days pass away in your wrath; our years fade away and end like a sigh.
Our lives last seventy years or, if we are strong, eighty years. Even the best of them are struggle and sorrow; indeed, they pass quickly and we fly away. 10We live for 70 years, or 80 years if we're healthy, yet even in the prime years there are troubles and sorrow. They pass by quickly and we fly away.
Who understands the power of Your anger? Your wrath matches the fear that is due You. 11Who can know the intensity of your anger? Because our fear of you matches your wrath,
Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts. 12teach us to keep account of our days so we may develop inner wisdom.
LORD--how long? Turn and have compassion on Your servants. 13Please return, LORD! When will it be? Comfort your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with Your faithful love so that we may shout with joy and be glad all our days. 14Satisfy us in the morning with your gracious love so we may sing for joy and rejoice every day.
Make us rejoice for as many days as You have humbled us, for as many years as we have seen adversity. 15Cause us to rejoice throughout the time when you have afflicted us, the years when we have known trouble.
Let Your work be seen by Your servants, and Your splendor by their children. 16May your awesome deeds be revealed to your servants, as well as your splendor to their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish for us the work of our hands-- establish the work of our hands! 17May your favor be on us, Lord our God; make our endeavors successful; yes, make our endeavors secure!
