1Wisdom has built her house; she has carved out her seven pillars. 1חָ֭כְמוֹת בָּנְתָ֣ה בֵיתָ֑הּ חָצְבָ֖ה עַמּוּדֶ֣יהָ שִׁבְעָֽה׃
2She has prepared her meat; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table. 2טָבְחָ֣ה טִ֭בְחָהּ מָסְכָ֣ה יֵינָ֑הּ אַ֝֗ף עָֽרְכָ֥ה שֻׁלְחָנָֽהּ׃
3She has sent out her maidservants; she calls out from the heights of the city: 3שָֽׁלְחָ֣ה נַעֲרֹתֶ֣יהָ תִקְרָ֑א עַל־ גַּ֝פֵּ֗י מְרֹ֣מֵי קָֽרֶת׃
4“Whoever [is] simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks judgment she says: 4מִי־ פֶ֭תִי יָסֻ֣ר הֵ֑נָּה חֲסַר־ לֵ֝֗ב אָ֣מְרָה לּֽוֹ׃
5“Come, eat my bread, and drink the wine I have mixed. 5לְ֭כוּ לַחֲמ֣וּ בְֽלַחֲמִ֑י וּ֝שְׁת֗וּ בְּיַ֣יִן מָסָֽכְתִּי׃
6Leave your folly behind, and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.” 6עִזְב֣וּ פְתָאיִ֣ם וִֽחְי֑וּ וְ֝אִשְׁר֗וּ בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ בִּינָֽה׃
7He who corrects a mocker will bring shame on himself; he who rebukes a wicked man will be tainted. 7יֹ֤סֵ֨ר ׀ לֵ֗ץ לֹקֵ֣חַֽ ל֣וֹ קָל֑וֹן וּמוֹכִ֖יחַ לְרָשָׁ֣ע מוּמֽוֹ׃
8Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. 8אַל־ תּ֣וֹכַח לֵ֭ץ פֶּן־ יִשְׂנָאֶ֑ךָּ הוֹכַ֥ח לְ֝חָכָ֗ם וְיֶאֱהָבֶֽךָּ׃
9Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will increase [his] learning. 9תֵּ֣ן לְ֭חָכָם וְיֶחְכַּם־ ע֑וֹד הוֹדַ֥ע לְ֝צַדִּ֗יק וְי֣וֹסֶף לֶֽקַח׃ פ
10The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. 10תְּחִלַּ֣ת חָ֭כְמָה יִרְאַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְדַ֖עַת קְדֹשִׁ֣ים בִּינָֽה׃
11For through [wisdom] your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life. 11כִּי־ בִ֭י יִרְבּ֣וּ יָמֶ֑יךָ וְיוֹסִ֥יפוּ לְּ֝ךָ֗ שְׁנ֣וֹת חַיִּֽים׃
12If you are wise, you are wise to your own advantage; but if you scoff, you alone will bear [the consequences]. 12אִם־ חָ֭כַמְתָּ חָכַ֣מְתָּ לָּ֑ךְ וְ֝לַ֗צְתָּ לְֽבַדְּךָ֥ תִשָּֽׂא׃
13The woman named Folly is loud; [she is] naive and knows nothing. 13אֵ֣שֶׁת כְּ֭סִילוּת הֹֽמִיָּ֑ה פְּ֝תַיּ֗וּת וּבַל־ יָ֥דְעָה מָּֽה׃
14She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the heights of the city, 14וְֽ֭יָשְׁבָה לְפֶ֣תַח בֵּיתָ֑הּ עַל־ כִּ֝סֵּ֗א מְרֹ֣מֵי קָֽרֶת׃
15calling to those who pass by, who make their paths {straight}: 15לִקְרֹ֥א לְעֹֽבְרֵי־ דָ֑רֶךְ הַֽ֝מְיַשְּׁרִ֗ים אֹֽרְחוֹתָֽם׃
16“Whoever [is] simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks judgment she says: 16מִי־ פֶ֭תִי יָסֻ֣ר הֵ֑נָּה וַחֲסַר־ לֵ֝֗ב וְאָ֣מְרָה לּֽוֹ׃
17“Stolen water is sweet, and bread [eaten] in secret is tasty!” 17מַֽיִם־ גְּנוּבִ֥ים יִמְתָּ֑קוּ וְלֶ֖חֶם סְתָרִ֣ים יִנְעָֽם׃
18But they do not know that the dead are there, that her guests [are] in the depths of Sheol. 18וְֽלֹא־ יָ֭דַע כִּֽי־ רְפָאִ֣ים שָׁ֑ם בְּעִמְקֵ֖י שְׁא֣וֹל קְרֻאֶֽיהָ׃ פ
