New Living Translation | King James Bible |
Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. | 1Michtam of David. Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust. |
I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” | 2O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee; |
The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! | 3But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. |
Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods. | 4Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. |
LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. | 5The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. |
The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! | 6The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage. |
I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. | 7I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons. |
I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. | 8I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. |
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. | 9Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. |
For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. | 10For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. |
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. | 11Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. |
