New Living Translation | Berean Study Bible |
Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. | 1A Miktam of David. Preserve me, O God, for in You I take refuge. |
I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” | 2I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.” |
The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! | 3As for the saints in the land, they are the excellence in whom all my delight resides. |
Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods. I will not take part in their sacrifices of blood or even speak the names of their gods. | 4Sorrows will multiply to those who chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips. |
LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. | 5The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You have made my lot secure. |
The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! | 6The lines of my boundary have fallen in pleasant places; surely my inheritance is delightful. |
I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. | 7I will bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my conscience instructs me. |
I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. | 8I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. |
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. | 9Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely. |
For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave. | 10For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. |
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. | 11You have made known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand. |
