New Living Translation | International Standard Version |
I will praise the LORD at all times. I will constantly speak his praises. | 1I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise will be in my mouth continuously. |
I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are helpless take heart. | 2My soul will glorify the LORD; the humble will hear about it and rejoice. |
Come, let us tell of the LORD’s greatness; let us exalt his name together. | 3Magnify the LORD with me! Let us lift up his name together! |
I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. | 4I sought the LORD and he answered me; he delivered me from all of my fears. |
Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces. | 5Look to him and be radiant; and you will not be ashamed. |
In my desperation I prayed, and the LORD listened; he saved me from all my troubles. | 6This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard and delivered him from all of his distress. |
For the angel of the LORD is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him. | 7The angel of the LORD surrounds those who fear him, and he delivers them. |
Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! | 8Taste and see that the LORD is good! How blessed is the person who trusts in him! |
Fear the LORD, you his godly people, for those who fear him will have all they need. | 9Fear the LORD, you holy ones of his; for those who fear him lack nothing. |
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing. | 10Young lions lack and go hungry, but those who seek the LORD will never lack any good thing. |
Come, my children, and listen to me, and I will teach you to fear the LORD. | 11Come, children, listen to me, and I will teach you the fear of the LORD. |
Does anyone want to live a life that is long and prosperous? | 12Who among you desires life, and wants long life in order to see good? |
Then keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies! | 13Then keep your tongue from doing evil and your lips from spreading lies. |
Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it. | 14Avoid evil and do good! Seek peace and pursue it! |
The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right; his ears are open to their cries for help. | 15The LORD looks on the righteous, and he listens to their cries. |
But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil; he will erase their memory from the earth. | 16The face of the LORD is set against those who do evil, and he will remove people's recollection of them from the earth. |
The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. | 17The LORD hears those who cry out, and he delivers them from all their distress. |
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. | 18The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, and he delivers those whose spirit has been crushed. |
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the LORD comes to the rescue each time. | 19A righteous person will have many troubles, but the LORD will deliver him from them all. |
For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous; not one of them is broken! | 20God protects all his bones; not one of them will be broken. |
Calamity will surely destroy the wicked, and those who hate the righteous will be punished. | 21Evil will kill the wicked; those who hate the righteous will be held guilty. |
But the LORD will redeem those who serve him. No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned. | 22The LORD redeems the lives of his servants; and none of those who trust in him will be held guilty. |
