Then Moses called together the whole community of Israel and told them, “These are the instructions the LORD has commanded you to follow. | 1Moses assembled the entire congregation of the Israelis and told them, "These are the things that the LORD has commanded you to do: |
You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the LORD. Anyone who works on that day must be put to death. | 2For six days work is to be done, but on the seventh day you are to have a holy day, a Sabbath of complete rest in dedication to the LORD. Anyone who does work on that day is to be executed. |
You must not even light a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath.” Offerings for the Tabernacle | 3You are not to light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath." |
Then Moses said to the whole community of Israel, “This is what the LORD has commanded: | 4Then Moses told the entire congregation of the Israelis, "This is what the LORD has commanded, |
Take a sacred offering for the LORD. Let those with generous hearts present the following gifts to the LORD: gold, silver, and bronze; | 5Take from among yourselves an offering for the LORD. Everyone whose heart is willing is to bring as an offering for the LORD: gold, silver, and bronze; |
blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth; | 6blue, purple, and scarlet material; fine linen and goat hair; |
tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather; acacia wood; | 7ram skins dyed red, dolphin skins, acacia wood, |
olive oil for the lamps; spices for the anointing oil and the fragrant incense; | 8oil for lighting, spices for the anointing oil and for aromatic incense, |
onyx stones, and other gemstones to be set in the ephod and the priest’s chestpiece. | 9onyx stones, and stones for setting in the ephod and the breast piece. |
“Come, all of you who are gifted craftsmen. Construct everything that the LORD has commanded: | 10"'Let everyone who is skilled among you come and make everything that the LORD has commanded: |
the Tabernacle and its sacred tent, its covering, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts, and bases; | 11the tent, its tent, its covering, its clasps, its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets, |
the Ark and its carrying poles; the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement; the inner curtain to shield the Ark; | 12the ark, its poles, the Mercy Seat, the curtain, |
the table, its carrying poles, and all its utensils; the Bread of the Presence; | 13the table, its poles, all its furnishings, and the bread of the presence, |
for light, the lampstand, its accessories, the lamp cups, and the olive oil for lighting; | 14the lamp stand for light, its furnishings, its lamps, and oil for the light, |
the incense altar and its carrying poles; the anointing oil and fragrant incense; the curtain for the entrance of the Tabernacle; | 15the altar of incense, its poles, the anointing oil, the aromatic incense, and the screen for the doorway at the entrance to the tent, |
the altar of burnt offering; the bronze grating of the altar and its carrying poles and utensils; the washbasin with its stand; | 16the altar for burnt offerings, the bronze lattice for it, its poles, and all its furnishings, the basin and its base, |
the curtains for the walls of the courtyard; the posts and their bases; the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard; | 17the hangings for the court, its pillars, its sockets, the screen for the gate of the court, |
the tent pegs of the Tabernacle and courtyard and their ropes; | 18the pegs for the tent, the pegs for the court, and their cords, |
the beautifully stitched garments for the priests to wear while ministering in the Holy Place—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests.” | 19the woven garments for ministering in the Holy Place, the holy garments of Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons for serving as priests.'" |
So the whole community of Israel left Moses and returned to their tents. | 20Then the entire congregation of the Israelis withdrew from Moses' presence, |
All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the LORD. They brought all the materials needed for the Tabernacle, for the performance of its rituals, and for the sacred garments. | 21and every person whose heart moved him and all whose spirits prompted them, brought an offering to the LORD for constructing the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. |
Both men and women came, all whose hearts were willing. They brought to the LORD their offerings of gold—brooches, earrings, rings from their fingers, and necklaces. They presented gold objects of every kind as a special offering to the LORD. | 22Both the men and women came—all whose hearts prompted them—and brought brooches, earrings, rings, pendants, and all kinds of gold jewelry. Every person presented a wave offering of gold to the LORD. |
All those who owned the following items willingly brought them: blue, purple, and scarlet thread; fine linen and goat hair for cloth; and tanned ram skins and fine goatskin leather. | 23Everyone who had blue, purple, and scarlet material, fine linen, goat hair, ram skins dyed red, and dolphin skins brought them. |
And all who had silver and bronze objects gave them as a sacred offering to the LORD. And those who had acacia wood brought it for use in the project. | 24Everyone who could give an offering of silver and bronze brought it as a contribution for the LORD. Also all who had acacia wood for any use in the work brought it. |
All the women who were skilled in sewing and spinning prepared blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine linen cloth. | 25Every skilled woman spun with her hands, and brought what she had spun: blue, purple, and scarlet material, and fine linen. |
All the women who were willing used their skills to spin the goat hair into yarn. | 26All the women who were skilled artisans spun the goat hair. |
The leaders brought onyx stones and the special gemstones to be set in the ephod and the priest’s chestpiece. | 27The leaders brought onyx stones and stones to be set in the ephod and the breast piece, |
They also brought spices and olive oil for the light, the anointing oil, and the fragrant incense. | 28spices and oil for the light and for the anointing oil and the aromatic incense. |
So the people of Israel—every man and woman who was eager to help in the work the LORD had given them through Moses—brought their gifts and gave them freely to the LORD. | 29Each Israeli man and woman whose heart was prompted brought something as a freewill offering to the LORD for all the work that the LORD had commanded them to do through Moses. |
Then Moses told the people of Israel, “The LORD has specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. | 30Moses told the Israelis, "Look, the LORD has called Uri's son Bezalel, grandson of Hur, from the tribe of Judah, |
The LORD has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. | 31and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, and with knowledge of all kinds of work, |
He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. | 32to make artistic designs, to work in gold, silver, and bronze, |
He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft. | 33to cut stones for setting, to carve wood, and to engage in all kinds of artistic work. |
And the LORD has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach their skills to others. | 34And he has given both him and Ahisamach's son Oholiab from the tribe of Dan the ability to teach. |
The LORD has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers. | 35He has equipped them to do all kinds of work done by an engraver, designer, embroider in blue, purple and scarlet material and in fine linen, or as a weaver. They were able to do all kinds of work and were skilled designers. |
