New King James VersionInternational Standard Version
“You shall make an altar to burn incense on; you shall make it of acacia wood.1"You are to make an altar for burning incense. You are to make it of acacia wood.
A cubit shall be its length and a cubit its width—it shall be square—and two cubits shall be its height. Its horns shall be of one piece with it.2It is to be a square, one cubit long and one cubit wide, and it is to be two cubits high, with its horns of one piece with it.
And you shall overlay its top, its sides all around, and its horns with pure gold; and you shall make for it a molding of gold all around.3You are to overlay it with pure gold, its top, its sides all around, and its horns, and you are to make a molding of gold all around it.
Two gold rings you shall make for it, under the molding on both its sides. You shall place them on its two sides, and they will be holders for the poles with which to bear it.4"You are to make two gold rings for it under its molding. You are to make them on its two opposite sides, and they are to be holders for poles by which to carry it.
You shall make the poles of acacia wood, and overlay them with gold.5You are to make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold.
And you shall put it before the veil that is before the ark of the Testimony, before the mercy seat that is over the Testimony, where I will meet with you.6You are to put the altar in front of the curtain that is over the Ark of the Testimony, in front of the Mercy Seat that is over the Testimony where I'll meet with you.
“Aaron shall burn on it sweet incense every morning; when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it.7Aaron is to offer fragrant incense on it. Every morning when he trims the lamps he is to offer it,
And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.8and when Aaron sets up the lamps at twilight, he is to offer it as a continual incense offering in the LORD's presence throughout your generations.
You shall not offer strange incense on it, or a burnt offering, or a grain offering; nor shall you pour a drink offering on it.9You are not to offer strange incense, a burnt offering, or a grain offering on it, nor are you to pour out a libation on it.
And Aaron shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement; once a year he shall make atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most holy to the LORD.”10Each year Aaron is to make atonement on its horns with the blood of the sin offering of atonement. He is to make atonement on it each year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the LORD."
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:11The LORD told Moses,
“When you take the census of the children of Israel for their number, then every man shall give a ransom for himself to the LORD, when you number them, that there may be no plague among them when you number them.12"When you take a census of the Israelis to register them, each is to give a ransom for himself to the LORD when they're registered so there won't be a plague among them when they're registered.
This is what everyone among those who are numbered shall give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (a shekel is twenty gerahs). The half-shekel shall be an offering to the LORD.13This is what everyone who is registered is to give: half a shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary (the shekel weighs 20 gerahs), half a shekel as a contribution to the LORD.
Everyone included among those who are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering to the LORD.14All who are registered, 20 years of age and older, are to give a contribution to the LORD.
The rich shall not give more and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when you give an offering to the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves.15The rich person is not to give more, nor is the poor person to give less than the half shekel, when you give a contribution to the LORD to make atonement for yourselves.
And you shall take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of meeting, that it may be a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD, to make atonement for yourselves.”16You are to take the atonement money from the Israelis and give it for the service of the Tent of Meeting, and it is to be a memorial for the Israelis in the LORD's presence to make atonement for yourselves."
Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:17The LORD told Moses,
“You shall also make a laver of bronze, with its base also of bronze, for washing. You shall put it between the tabernacle of meeting and the altar. And you shall put water in it,18"You are to make a bronze basin with a bronze base for washing. You are to pace it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, put water in it,
for Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet in water from it.19and Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and their feet from it.
When they go into the tabernacle of meeting, or when they come near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the LORD, they shall wash with water, lest they die.20When they enter the Tent of Meeting or when they approach the altar to minister to make an offering by fire to the LORD, they are to wash with water so they don't die.
So they shall wash their hands and their feet, lest they die. And it shall be a statute forever to them—to him and his descendants throughout their generations.”21They are to wash their hands and their feet so that they don't die, and it is to be for them a perpetual ordinance for Aaron and his seed from generation to generation."
Moreover the LORD spoke to Moses, saying:22The LORD told Moses,
“Also take for yourself quality spices—five hundred shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much sweet-smelling cinnamon (two hundred and fifty shekels), two hundred and fifty shekels of sweet-smelling cane,23"You are to take for yourself the finest spices: 500 shekels by weight of liquid myrrh, half as much fragrant cinnamon (250 shekels), 250 shekels of fragrant reeds,
five hundred shekels of cassia, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and a hin of olive oil.24500 shekels of cassia—all according to the shekel of the sanctuary—and a hin of olive oil.
And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil.25You are to make them into a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture made by a perfumer. It is to be a holy anointing oil.
With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony;26You are to use it to anoint the Tent of Meeting, the Ark of the Testimony,
the table and all its utensils, the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense;27the table and all its utensils, the lamp stand and its utensils, the altar of incense,
the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base.28the altar for burnt offerings and all its utensils, and the basin and its base.
You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy.29You are to consecrate them and they are to be most holy. Whatever touches them is to be holy.
And you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister to Me as priests.30You are to anoint Aaron and his sons, and you are to consecrate them to serve as my priests.
“And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying: ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations.31You are to address the Israelis and tell them, 'This is to be holy anointing oil for me from generation to generation.
It shall not be poured on man’s flesh; nor shall you make any other like it, according to its composition. It is holy, and it shall be holy to you.32It is not to be poured out on a person's body, nor are you to make anything like it with similar formulations. It is holy, and it is to be holy to you.
Whoever compounds any like it, or whoever puts any of it on an outsider, shall be cut off from his people.’ ”33Anyone who mixes anything like it or who puts any of it on an unqualified person is to be cut off from his people.'"
And the LORD said to Moses: “Take sweet spices, stacte and onycha and galbanum, and pure frankincense with these sweet spices; there shall be equal amounts of each.34The LORD told Moses, "Take for yourself spices: stacte, onycha, galbanum, and spices with pure frankincense, all in equal amounts.
You shall make of these an incense, a compound according to the art of the perfumer, salted, pure, and holy.35You are to make it into a fragrant incense, expertly blended, pure, and holy.
And you shall beat some of it very fine, and put some of it before the Testimony in the tabernacle of meeting where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you.36You are to grind some of it fine, and put some before the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting where I will meet with you. It is to be most holy to you.
But as for the incense which you shall make, you shall not make any for yourselves, according to its composition. It shall be to you holy for the LORD.37You are not to make the incense that you make in this formulation for your own use. It is to be holy to the LORD for you.
Whoever makes any like it, to smell it, he shall be cut off from his people.”38Anyone who makes anything like it to use it as perfume is to be cut off from his people."
