| 1Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. | 1Therefore, since the promise to enter his rest remains, let us beware that none of you be found to have fallen short. |
| 2For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. | 2For we also have received the good news just as they did. | 3For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. | 3For we who have believed enter the rest, in keeping with what he has said, So I swore in my anger, "They will not enter my rest," even though his works have been finished since the foundation of the world. |

| 7again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.” | 7he again specifies a certain day-- today. | 8For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. | 8For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. |

| 10For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. | 10For the person who has entered his rest has rested from his own works, just as God did from his. |
| 11Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. | 11Let us then make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall into the same pattern of disobedience. |
| 12For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. | 12For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. |

| 15For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. | 15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in every way as we are, yet without sin. |
| 16Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. | 16Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in time of need. |
