| 2See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. | 2For look, your enemies are making a commotion; those who hate you are hostile. |
| 3With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. | 3They carefully plot against your people, and make plans to harm the ones you cherish. |
| 4"Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel's name is remembered no more." | 4They say, "Come on, let's annihilate them so they are no longer a nation! Then the name of Israel will be remembered no more." |
