| 1Then after fourteen years I went up to Jerusalem again with Barnabas, taking Titus along too. | 1Then after fourteen years, I went up again to Jerusalem, this time with Barnabas. I took Titus along also. |
| 2I went there because of a revelation and presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. But I did so only in a private meeting with the influential people, to make sure that I was not running--or had not run--in vain. | 2I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain. |

| 16yet we know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by the faithfulness of Jesus Christ.
