For the choir director; for flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my groaning. | 1For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament. |
Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray. | 2Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. |
In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. | 3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. |
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You. | 4For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome. |
The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity. | 5The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong; |
You destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit. | 6you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest. |
But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You. | 7But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple. |
O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me. | 8Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make your way straight before me. |
There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue. | 9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies. |
Hold them guilty, O God; By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, For they are rebellious against You. | 10Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you. |
But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You. | 11But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. |
For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him with favor as with a shield. | 12Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield. |
