For the choir director; for flute accompaniment. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my groaning. | 1For the choirmaster, to be accompanied by flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD; consider my groaning. |
Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my God, For to You I pray. | 2Attend to the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You I pray. |
In the morning, O LORD, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. | 3In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation. |
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You. | 4For You are not a God who delights in wickedness; no evil can dwell with You. |
The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity. | 5The boastful cannot stand in Your presence; You hate all workers of iniquity. |
You destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit. | 6You destroy those who tell lies; the LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit. |
But as for me, by Your abundant lovingkindness I will enter Your house, At Your holy temple I will bow in reverence for You. | 7But I will enter Your house by the abundance of Your loving devotion; in reverence I will bow down toward Your holy temple. |
O LORD, lead me in Your righteousness because of my foes; Make Your way straight before me. | 8Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make straight Your way before me. |
There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself. Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue. | 9For not a word they speak can be trusted; destruction lies within them. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. |
Hold them guilty, O God; By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, For they are rebellious against You. | 10Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own devices. Drive them out for their many transgressions, for they have rebelled against You. |
But let all who take refuge in You be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; And may You shelter them, That those who love Your name may exult in You. | 11But let all who take refuge in You rejoice; let them ever shout for joy. May You shelter them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. |
For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him with favor as with a shield. | 12For surely You, O LORD, bless the righteous; You surround them with the shield of Your favor. |
