New American Standard Bible 1995 | Holman Christian Standard Bible |
Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. | 1Brothers, if someone is caught in any wrongdoing, you who are spiritual should restore such a person with a gentle spirit, watching out for yourselves so you also won't be tempted. |
Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. | 2Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. | 3For if anyone considers himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. | 4But each person should examine his own work, and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in respect to someone else. |
For each one will bear his own load. | 5For each person will have to carry his own load. |
The one who is taught the word is to share all good things with the one who teaches him. | 6The one who is taught the message must share all his good things with the teacher. |
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. | 7Don't be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap, |
For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. | 8because the one who sows to his flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. |
Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. | 9So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don't give up. |
So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. | 10Therefore, as we have opportunity, we must work for the good of all, especially for those who belong to the household of faith. |
See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. | 11Look at what large letters I use as I write to you in my own handwriting. |
Those who desire to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. | 12Those who want to make a good impression in the flesh are the ones who would compel you to be circumcised--but only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they desire to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh. | 13For even the circumcised don't keep the law themselves; however, they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. |
But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. | 14But as for me, I will never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world. |
For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. | 15For both circumcision and uncircumcision mean nothing; what matters instead is a new creation. |
And those who will walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. | 16May peace come to all those who follow this standard, and mercy to the Israel of God! |
From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus. | 17From now on, let no one cause me trouble, because I bear on my body scars for the cause of Jesus. |
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen. | 18Brothers, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
