| 1It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father's wife. | 1It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and the kind of sexual immorality that is not even tolerated among the Gentiles--a man is sleeping with his father's wife. |
| 2You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst. | 2And you are arrogant! Shouldn't you be filled with grief and remove from your congregation the one who did this? |
| 3For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present. | 3Even though I am absent in the body, I am present in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already pronounced judgment on the one who has been doing such a thing. |

| 11But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler-- not even to eat with such a one. | 11But actually, I wrote you not to associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister and is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or verbally abusive, a drunkard or a swindler. Do not even eat with such a person. |
| 12For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? | 12For what business is it of mine to judge outsiders? Don't you judge those who are inside? |
| 13But those who are outside, God judges. REMOVE THE WICKED MAN FROM AMONG YOURSELVES. | 13God judges outsiders. Remove the evil person from among you. |
