King James Bible | International Standard Version |
Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. | 1Rejoice in the LORD, righteous ones; for the praise of the upright is beautiful. |
Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. | 2With the lyre, give thanks to the LORD; with the ten stringed harp, play music to him; |
Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. | 3with a new song, sing to him; with shouts of joy, play skillfully. |
For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. | 4For the word of the LORD is upright; and all his works are done in faithfulness. |
He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD. | 5He loves righteousness and justice; the world is filled with the gracious love of the LORD. |
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. | 6By the word of the LORD the heavens were made; all the heavenly bodies by the breath of his mouth. |
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses. | 7He gathered the oceans into a single place; he put the deep water into storehouses. |
Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. | 8Let all the world fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him; |
For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast. | 9because he spoke and it came to be, because he commanded, it stood firm. |
The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect. | 10The LORD makes void the counsel of nations; he frustrates the plans of peoples. |
The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. | 11But the LORD's counsel stands firm forever, the plans in his mind for all generations. |
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. | 12How blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he has chosen as his own inheritance. |
The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men. | 13When the LORD looks down from heaven, he observes every human being. |
From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth. | 14From his dwelling place, he looks down on all the inhabitants of the earth. |
He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works. | 15He formed the hearts of them all; he understands everything they do. |
There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. | 16A king is not saved by a large army; a mighty soldier is not delivered by his great strength. |
An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. | 17It is vain to trust in a horse for deliverance, even with its great strength, it cannot deliver. |
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; | 18Indeed, the LORD watches those who fear him; those who trust in his gracious love |
To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. | 19to deliver them from death; to keep them alive in times of famine. |
Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield. | 20We wait on the LORD; he is our help and our shield. |
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. | 21Indeed, our heart will rejoice in him, because we have placed our trust in his holy name. |
Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee. | 22LORD, may your gracious love be upon us, even as we hope in you. |
