International Standard Version | New Living Translation |
I exalt you, LORD, for you have lifted me up, and my enemies could not gloat over me. | 1I will exalt you, LORD, for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. |
LORD, my God! I cried out to you for help and you healed me. | 2O LORD my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. |
LORD, you brought me from death; you kept me alive so that I did not descend into the Pit. | 3You brought me up from the grave, O LORD. You kept me from falling into the pit of death. |
You, his godly ones, sing to the LORD, give thanks at the mention of his holiness. | 4Sing to the LORD, all you godly ones! Praise his holy name. |
For his wrath is only momentary; yet his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may lodge for the night, but shouts of joy will come in the morning. | 5For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime! Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. |
As for me, I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved." | 6When I was prosperous, I said, “Nothing can stop me now!” |
By your favor, LORD, you established me as a strong mountain; Then you hid your face, and I was dismayed. | 7Your favor, O LORD, made me as secure as a mountain. Then you turned away from me, and I was shattered. |
I cried out to you, LORD, and I make supplication to the Lord: | 8I cried out to you, O LORD. I begged the Lord for mercy, saying, |
"What profit is there in my death if I go down to the Pit? Can dust worship you? Can it proclaim your faithfulness?" | 9“What will you gain if I die, if I sink into the grave? Can my dust praise you? Can it tell of your faithfulness? |
Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me! LORD, help me! | 10Hear me, LORD, and have mercy on me. Help me, O LORD.” |
You have turned my mourning into dancing; you took off my sackcloth and clothed me with a garment of joy, | 11You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, |
so that I may sing praise to you and not remain silent. LORD, my God, I will give you thanks forever! | 12that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever! |
