International Standard Version | NET Bible |
Brothers, if a person is caught doing something wrong, those of you who are spiritual should restore that person gently. Watch out for yourself so that you are not tempted as well. | 1Brothers and sisters, if a person is discovered in some sin, you who are spiritual restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness. Pay close attention to yourselves, so that you are not tempted too. |
Practice carrying each other's burdens. In this way you will fulfill the law of the Messiah. | 2Carry one another's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. |
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is really nothing, he is only fooling himself. | 3For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. |
Each person must examine his own actions, and then he can boast about his own accomplishments and not about someone else. | 4Let each one examine his own work. Then he can take pride in himself and not compare himself with someone else. |
For everyone must carry his own load. | 5For each one will carry his own load. |
The person who is taught the word should share all his goods with his teacher. | 6Now the one who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with the one who teaches it. |
Stop being deceived; God is not to be ridiculed. A person harvests whatever he plants: | 7Do not be deceived. God will not be made a fool. For a person will reap what he sows, |
The person who sows through human means will harvest decay from human means, but the person who sows in the Spirit will harvest eternal life from the Spirit. | 8because the person who sows to his own flesh will reap corruption from the flesh, but the one who sows to the Spirit will reap eternal life from the Spirit. |
Let's not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest—if we do not give up. | 9So we must not grow weary in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not give up. |
So then, whenever we have the opportunity, let's practice doing good to everyone, especially to the family of faith. | 10So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who belong to the family of faith. |
Look at how large these letters are because I am writing with my own hand! | 11See what big letters I make as I write to you with my own hand! |
These people who want to impress others by their external appearance are trying to force you to be circumcised, simply to avoid being persecuted for the cross of the Messiah. | 12Those who want to make a good showing in external matters are trying to force you to be circumcised. They do so only to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. |
Why, not even those who are circumcised obey the Law! They simply want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your external appearance. | 13For those who are circumcised do not obey the law themselves, but they want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your flesh. |
But may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world! | 14But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. |
For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters. Rather, what matters is being a new creation. | 15For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation! |
Now may peace be on all those who live by this principle, and may mercy be on the Israel of God. | 16And all who will behave in accordance with this rule, peace and mercy be on them, and on the Israel of God. |
Let no one make any more trouble for me, because I carry the scars of Jesus on my own body. | 17From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body. |
May the grace of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be with your spirit, brothers! Amen. | 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen. |
