International Standard Version | King James Bible |
Brothers, if a person is caught doing something wrong, those of you who are spiritual should restore that person gently. Watch out for yourself so that you are not tempted as well. | 1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. |
Practice carrying each other's burdens. In this way you will fulfill the law of the Messiah. | 2Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. |
For if anyone thinks he is something when he is really nothing, he is only fooling himself. | 3For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. |
Each person must examine his own actions, and then he can boast about his own accomplishments and not about someone else. | 4But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another. |
For everyone must carry his own load. | 5For every man shall bear his own burden. |
The person who is taught the word should share all his goods with his teacher. | 6Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. |
Stop being deceived; God is not to be ridiculed. A person harvests whatever he plants: | 7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. |
The person who sows through human means will harvest decay from human means, but the person who sows in the Spirit will harvest eternal life from the Spirit. | 8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. |
Let's not get tired of doing what is good, for at the right time we will reap a harvest—if we do not give up. | 9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. |
So then, whenever we have the opportunity, let's practice doing good to everyone, especially to the family of faith. | 10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith. |
Look at how large these letters are because I am writing with my own hand! | 11Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand. |
These people who want to impress others by their external appearance are trying to force you to be circumcised, simply to avoid being persecuted for the cross of the Messiah. | 12As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ. |
Why, not even those who are circumcised obey the Law! They simply want you to be circumcised so that they can boast about your external appearance. | 13For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh. |
But may I never boast about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world! | 14But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. |
For neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters. Rather, what matters is being a new creation. | 15For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. |
Now may peace be on all those who live by this principle, and may mercy be on the Israel of God. | 16And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. |
Let no one make any more trouble for me, because I carry the scars of Jesus on my own body. | 17From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus. |
May the grace of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be with your spirit, brothers! Amen. | 18Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen. |
