| 29But he answered his father, 'Listen! All these years I've worked like a slave for you. I've never disobeyed a command of yours. Yet you've never given me so much as a young goat for a festival so I could celebrate with my friends. | 29But he replied to his father, Look, I have been slaving many years for you, and I have never disobeyed your orders, yet you never gave me a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. |
| 30But this son of yours spent your money on prostitutes, and when he came back, you killed the fattened calf for him!' | 30But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your assets with prostitutes, you slaughtered the fattened calf for him.' |
