| 11As for my friends and my neighbors, they stand aloof from my distress; even my close relatives stand at a distance. | 11My friends and companions stand aloof from my plague, and my nearest kin stand far off. |
| 12Those who seek my life lay snares for me; those who seek to do me harm brag all day long about their wicked planning. | 12Those who seek my life lay their snares; those who seek my hurt speak of ruin and meditate treachery all day long. |
| 13I am like the deaf, who cannot hear, and like the mute, who cannot open his mouth. | 13But I am like a deaf man; I do not hear, like a mute man who does not open his mouth. |
| 14Indeed, I have become like a man who hears nothing, and in whose mouth there is no rebuke. | 14I have become like a man who does not hear, and in whose mouth are no rebukes. |
| 15Because I have placed my hope in you, LORD, you will answer, Lord, my God. | 15But for you, O LORD, do I wait; it is you, O Lord my God, who will answer. |
| 16For I said, "Do not let them gloat over me, as they congratulate themselves when my foot slips." | 16For I said, “Only let them not rejoice over me, who boast against me when my foot slips!” |
| 17Indeed, I am being set up for a fall, and I am continuously reminded of my pain. | 17For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever before me. |
| 18I confess my iniquity, and my sin troubles me. | 18I confess my iniquity; I am sorry for my sin. |
| 19But my enemies are alive and well; those who hate me for no reason are numerous. | 19But my foes are vigorous, they are mighty, and many are those who hate me wrongfully. |
| 20They reward my good with evil, opposing me because I seek to do good. | 20Those who render me evil for good accuse me because I follow after good. |
| 21Don't forsake me, LORD. My God, do not be so distant from me. | 21Do not forsake me, O LORD! O my God, be not far from me! |
| 22Come quickly and help me, Lord, my deliverer. | 22Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation! |
