International Standard VersionBerean Study Bible
LORD! Do not rebuke me in your anger; do not correct me in your wrath,1A Psalm of David, for remembrance. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath.
because your arrows have sunk deep into me, and your hand has come down hard on me.2For Your arrows have pierced me deeply, and Your hand has pressed down on me.
My body is unhealthy due to your anger, and my bones have no rest due to my sin.3There is no soundness in my body because of Your anger; there is no rest in my bones because of my sin.
My iniquities loom over my head; like a cumbersome burden, they are too heavy for me.4For my iniquities have overwhelmed me; they are a burden too heavy to bear.
My wounds have putrefied and festered because of my foolishness.5My wounds are foul and festering because of my sinful folly.
I am bent over and walk about greatly bowed down; all day long I go around mourning.6I am bent and brought low; all day long I go about mourning.
My insides are burning and my body is unhealthy.7For my loins are full of burning pain, and no soundness remains in my body.
I am weak and utterly crushed; I cry out in distress because of my heart's anguish.8I am numb and badly crushed; I groan in anguish of heart.
Lord, all my longings are before you, and my groaning is not hidden from you.9O Lord, my every desire is before You; my groaning is not hidden from You.
My heart pounds, my strength fails me, even the gleam in my eye is gone.10My heart pounds, my strength fails, and even the light of my eyes has faded.
As for my friends and my neighbors, they stand aloof from my distress; even my close relatives stand at a distance.11My beloved and friends shun my disease, and my kinsmen stand at a distance.
Those who seek my life lay snares for me; those who seek to do me harm brag all day long about their wicked planning.12Those who seek my life lay snares; those who wish me harm speak destruction, plotting deceit all day long.
I am like the deaf, who cannot hear, and like the mute, who cannot open his mouth.13But like a deaf man, I do not hear; and like a mute man, I do not open my mouth.
Indeed, I have become like a man who hears nothing, and in whose mouth there is no rebuke.14I am like a man who cannot hear, whose mouth offers no reply.
Because I have placed my hope in you, LORD, you will answer, Lord, my God.15I wait for You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God.
For I said, "Do not let them gloat over me, as they congratulate themselves when my foot slips."16For I said, “Let them not gloat over me—those who taunt me when my foot slips.”
Indeed, I am being set up for a fall, and I am continuously reminded of my pain.17For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever with me.
I confess my iniquity, and my sin troubles me.18Yes, I confess my iniquity; I am troubled by my sin.
But my enemies are alive and well; those who hate me for no reason are numerous. 19Many are my enemies without cause, and many hate me without reason.
They reward my good with evil, opposing me because I seek to do good. 20Those who repay my good with evil attack me for pursuing the good.
Don't forsake me, LORD. My God, do not be so distant from me.21Do not forsake me, O LORD; be not far from me, O my God.
Come quickly and help me, Lord, my deliverer.22Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior.
