LORD, my God, I seek refuge in you. Deliver me from those who persecute me! Rescue me! | 1A Shiggaion of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite. O LORD my God, I take refuge in You; save me and deliver me from all my pursuers, |
Otherwise, they will rip me to shreds like a lion, tearing me apart with no one to rescue me. | 2or they will shred my soul like a lion and tear me to pieces with no one to rescue me. |
LORD, my God, if I have done this thing, if there is injustice on my hands, | 3O LORD my God, if I have done this, if injustice is on my hands, |
if I have rewarded those who did me good with evil, if I have plundered my enemy without justification, | 4if I have rewarded my ally with evil, if I have plundered my foe without cause, |
then, let my enemy pursue me, let him overtake me, and let him trample my life to the ground. Interlude Let him put my honor into the dust. | 5then may my enemy pursue me and overtake me; may he trample me to the ground and leave my honor in the dust. Selah |
Get up, LORD, in your anger! Rise up, because of the fury of my enemies; Arouse yourself for me; you have ordained justice. | 6Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; rise up against the fury of my enemies. Awake, my God, and ordain judgment. |
Let the assembly of the peoples gather around you, and you will sit high above them. | 7Let the assembled peoples gather around You; take Your seat over them on high. |
For the LORD will judge the peoples. Judge me according to my righteousness, LORD, and according to my integrity, Exalted One. | 8The LORD judges the peoples; vindicate me, O LORD, according to my righteousness and integrity. |
Let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous. For you are the righteous God who discerns the inner thoughts. | 9Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds. |
God is my shield, the one who delivers the upright in heart. | 10My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. |
God is a righteous judge, a God who is angry with sinners every day. | 11God is a righteous judge and a God who feels indignation each day. |
If the ungodly one doesn't repent, God will sharpen his sword; he will string his bow and prepare it. | 12If one does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; He has bent and strung His bow. |
He prepares weapons of death for himself, he makes his arrows into fiery shafts. | 13He has prepared His deadly weapons; He ordains His arrows with fire. |
But the wicked one travails with evil, he conceives malice and gives birth to lies. | 14Behold, the wicked man travails with evil; he conceives trouble and births falsehood. |
He digs a pit, even excavates it; then he fell into the hole that he had made. | 15He has dug a hole and hollowed it out; he has fallen into a pit of his own making. |
The trouble he planned will return on his own head, and his violence will descend on his skull. | 16His trouble recoils on himself, and his violence falls on his own head. |
But as for me, I will praise the LORD for his righteousness, and I will sing to the name of the LORD Most High. | 17I will thank the LORD for His righteousness and sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. |
