Psalm 107
HCSB Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
Holman Christian Standard BibleEnglish Standard Version
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. 1Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Let the redeemed of the LORD proclaim that He has redeemed them from the hand of the foe 2Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he has redeemed from trouble
and has gathered them from the lands-- from the east and the west, from the north and the south. 3and gathered in from the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
Some wandered in the desolate wilderness, finding no way to a city where they could live. 4Some wandered in desert wastes, finding no way to a city to dwell in;
They were hungry and thirsty; their spirits failed within them. 5hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He rescued them from their distress. 6Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by the right path to go to a city where they could live. 7He led them by a straight way till they reached a city to dwell in.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 8Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For He has satisfied the thirsty and filled the hungry with good things. 9For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
Others sat in darkness and gloom-- prisoners in cruel chains-- 10Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons,
because they rebelled against God's commands and despised the counsel of the Most High. 11for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High.
He broke their spirits with hard labor; they stumbled, and there was no one to help. 12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distress. 13Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He brought them out of darkness and gloom and broke their chains apart. 14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 15Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!
For He has broken down the bronze gates and cut through the iron bars. 16For he shatters the doors of bronze and cuts in two the bars of iron.
Fools suffered affliction because of their rebellious ways and their sins. 17Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
They loathed all food and came near the gates of death. 18they loathed any kind of food, and they drew near to the gates of death.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble; He saved them from their distress. 19Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He sent His word and healed them; He rescued them from the Pit. 20He sent out his word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 21Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!
Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and announce His works with shouts of joy. 22And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of his deeds in songs of joy!
Others went to sea in ships, conducting trade on the vast waters. 23Some went down to the sea in ships, doing business on the great waters;
They saw the LORD's works, His wonderful works in the deep. 24they saw the deeds of the LORD, his wondrous works in the deep.
He spoke and raised a tempest that stirred up the waves of the sea. 25For he commanded and raised the stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea.
Rising up to the sky, sinking down to the depths, their courage melting away in anguish, 26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths; their courage melted away in their evil plight;
they reeled and staggered like drunken men, and all their skill was useless. 27they reeled and staggered like drunken men and were at their wits’ end.
Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. 28Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He stilled the storm to a murmur, and the waves of the sea were hushed. 29He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed.
They rejoiced when the waves grew quiet. Then He guided them to the harbor they longed for. 30Then they were glad that the waters were quiet, and he brought them to their desired haven.
Let them give thanks to the LORD for His faithful love and His wonderful works for all humanity. 31Let them thank the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wondrous works to the children of man!
Let them exalt Him in the assembly of the people and praise Him in the council of the elders. 32Let them extol him in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
He turns rivers into desert, springs of water into thirsty ground, 33He turns rivers into a desert, springs of water into thirsty ground,
and fruitful land into salty wasteland, because of the wickedness of its inhabitants. 34a fruitful land into a salty waste, because of the evil of its inhabitants.
He turns a desert into a pool of water, dry land into springs of water. 35He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.
He causes the hungry to settle there, and they establish a city where they can live. 36And there he lets the hungry dwell, and they establish a city to live in;
They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest. 37they sow fields and plant vineyards and get a fruitful yield.
He blesses them, and they multiply greatly; He does not let their livestock decrease. 38By his blessing they multiply greatly, and he does not let their livestock diminish.
When they are diminished and are humbled by cruel oppression and sorrow, 39When they are diminished and brought low through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
He pours contempt on nobles and makes them wander in a trackless wasteland. 40he pours contempt on princes and makes them wander in trackless wastes;
But He lifts the needy out of their suffering and makes their families multiply like flocks. 41but he raises up the needy out of affliction and makes their families like flocks.
The upright see it and rejoice, and all injustice shuts its mouth. 42The upright see it and are glad, and all wickedness shuts its mouth.
Let whoever is wise pay attention to these things and consider the LORD's acts of faithful love. 43Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the LORD.
