When Jesus came down from the mountain, large crowds followed Him.1When Jesus came down from the hillside, large crowds followed him.
Suddenly a leper came and knelt before Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”2Suddenly, a leper came up to him, fell down before him, and said, "Sir, if you want to, you can make me clean."
Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” He said. “Be clean!” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.3So Jesus reached out his hand, touched him, and said, "I do want to. Be clean!" And instantly his leprosy was made clean.
Then Jesus instructed him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift prescribed by Moses, as a testimony to them.”4Then Jesus told him, "See to it that you don't speak to anyone. Instead, go and show yourself to the priest, and then offer the sacrifice that Moses commanded as proof to the authorities."
When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came and pleaded with Him,5When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a centurion came up to him and begged him repeatedly,
“Lord, my servant lies at home, paralyzed and in terrible agony.”6"Sir, my servant is lying at home paralyzed and in terrible pain."
“I will go and heal him,” Jesus replied.7Jesus told him, "I will come and heal him."
The centurion answered, “Lord, I am not worthy to have You come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.8The centurion replied, "Sir, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed,
For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell one to go, and he goes; and another to come, and he comes. I tell my servant to do something, and he does it.”9because I, too, am a man under authority and I have soldiers under me. I say to one of them 'Go' and he goes, to another 'Come' and he comes, and to my servant 'Do this' and he does it."
When Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those following Him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.10When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and told those who were following him, "I tell all of you with certainty, not even in Israel have I found this kind of faith!
I say to you that many will come from the east and the west to share the banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.11I tell all of you, many will come from east and west and will feast with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom from heaven.
But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”12But the unfaithful heirs of that kingdom will be thrown into the darkness outside. In that place there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! As you have believed, so will it be done for you.” And his servant was healed at that very hour.13"Go," Jesus told the centurion, "and it will be done for you, just as you have believed." And his servant was healed that very hour.
When Jesus arrived at Peter’s house, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law sick in bed with a fever.14When Jesus went into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed, sick with a fever.
So He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she got up and began to serve them.15He touched her hand, and the fever left her. Then she got up and began serving him.
When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to Jesus, and He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.16When evening came, people brought to him many who were possessed by demons. He drove out the spirits by speaking a command and healed everyone who was sick.
This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took on our infirmities and carried our diseases.”17This was to fulfill what was declared by the prophet Isaiah when he said, "It was he who took our illnesses away and removed our diseases."
When Jesus saw a large crowd around Him, He gave orders to cross to the other side of the sea.18When Jesus saw the large crowds around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the Sea of Galilee.
And one of the scribes came to Him and said, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”19Just then, a scribe came up and told him, "Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go."
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”20Jesus told him, "Foxes have holes and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to rest."
Another of His disciples requested, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”21Then another of his disciples told him, "Lord, first let me go and bury my father."
But Jesus told him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”22But Jesus told him, "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead."
When He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.23When Jesus got into the boat, his disciples went with him.
Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat was engulfed by the waves; but Jesus was sleeping.24Suddenly, a violent storm came up on the sea, so that the boat began to be swamped by the waves. Yet Jesus kept sleeping.
The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!”25They went to him and woke him up. "Lord!" they cried, "Save us! We're going to die!"
“You of little faith,” Jesus replied, “why are you so afraid?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it was perfectly calm.26He asked them, "Why are you afraid, you who have little faith?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the sea obey Him!”27The men were amazed. "What kind of man is this?" they asked. "Even the winds and the sea obey him!"
When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, He was met by two demon-possessed men coming from the tombs. They were so violent that no one could pass that way.28When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gerasenes, two demon-possessed men met him as they were coming out of the tombs. They were so violent that no one could travel on that road.
“What do You want with us, Son of God?” they shouted. “Have You come here to torture us before the appointed time?”29Suddenly, they screamed, "What do you want with us, Son of God? Did you come here to torture us before the proper time?"
In the distance a large herd of pigs was feeding.30Now a large herd of pigs was grazing some distance away from them.
So the demons begged Jesus, “If You drive us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”31So the demons began to plead with Jesus, saying, "If you drive us out, send us into that herd of pigs."
“Go!” He told them. So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea and died in the waters.32He told them, "Go," and they came out and went into the pigs. Suddenly, the whole herd rushed down the cliff into the sea and drowned in the water.
Those tending the pigs ran off into the town and reported all this, including the account of the demon-possessed men.33Now when those who had been taking care of the pigs ran away, they came into the city and reported everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men.
Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to leave their region.34Then the whole city went out to meet Jesus, and as soon as they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.
