Job 10
NLT Parallel KJV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New Living TranslationKing James Bible
“I am disgusted with my life. Let me complain freely. My bitter soul must complain.1My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.
I will say to God, ‘Don’t simply condemn me— tell me the charge you are bringing against me.2I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.
What do you gain by oppressing me? Why do you reject me, the work of your own hands, while smiling on the schemes of the wicked?3Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?
Are your eyes like those of a human? Do you see things only as people see them?4Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?
Is your lifetime only as long as ours? Is your life so short5Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,
that you must quickly probe for my guilt and search for my sin?6That thou inquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?
Although you know I am not guilty, no one can rescue me from your hands.7Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.
“‘You formed me with your hands; you made me, yet now you completely destroy me.8Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.
Remember that you made me from dust— will you turn me back to dust so soon?9Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?
You guided my conception and formed me in the womb.10Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?
You clothed me with skin and flesh, and you knit my bones and sinews together.11Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.
You gave me life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care.12Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.
“‘Yet your real motive— your true intent—13And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.
was to watch me, and if I sinned, you would not forgive my guilt.14If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.
If I am guilty, too bad for me; and even if I’m innocent, I can’t hold my head high, because I am filled with shame and misery.15If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;
And if I hold my head high, you hunt me like a lion and display your awesome power against me.16For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.
Again and again you witness against me. You pour out your growing anger on me and bring fresh armies against me.17Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.
“‘Why, then, did you deliver me from my mother’s womb? Why didn’t you let me die at birth?18Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!
It would be as though I had never existed, going directly from the womb to the grave.19I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.
I have only a few days left, so leave me alone, that I may have a moment of comfort20Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,
before I leave—never to return— for the land of darkness and utter gloom.21Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;
It is a land as dark as midnight, a land of gloom and confusion, where even the light is dark as midnight.’”22A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.
