New King James Version | New Living Translation |
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. | 1O LORD, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage. |
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. | 2Have compassion on me, LORD, for I am weak. Heal me, LORD, for my bones are in agony. |
My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD—how long? | 3I am sick at heart. How long, O LORD, until you restore me? |
Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! | 4Return, O LORD, and rescue me. Save me because of your unfailing love. |
For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks? | 5For the dead do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave? |
I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. | 6I am worn out from sobbing. All night I flood my bed with weeping, drenching it with my tears. |
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. | 7My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. | 8Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer. |
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly. | 10May all my enemies be disgraced and terrified. May they suddenly turn back in shame. |
