New King James Version | Berean Study Bible |
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. | 1For the choirmaster. With stringed instruments, according to Sheminith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath. |
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. | 2Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am frail; heal me, O LORD, for my bones are in agony. |
My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD—how long? | 3My soul is deeply distressed. How long, O LORD, how long? |
Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! | 4Turn, O LORD, and deliver my soul; save me because of Your loving devotion. |
For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks? | 5For there is no mention of You in death; who can praise You from Sheol? |
I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. | 6I am weary from groaning; all night I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. |
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. | 7My eyes fail from grief; they grow dim because of all my foes. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. | 8Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity, for the LORD has heard my weeping. |
The LORD has heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my cry for mercy; the LORD accepts my prayer. |
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly. | 10All my enemies will be ashamed and dismayed; they will turn back in sudden disgrace. |
