New King James Version | NET Bible |
To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure. | 1For the music director, to be accompanied by stringed instruments, according to the sheminith style; a psalm of David. LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger! Do not discipline me in your raging fury! |
Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled. | 2Have mercy on me, LORD, for I am frail! Heal me, LORD, for my bones are shaking! |
My soul also is greatly troubled; But You, O LORD—how long? | 3I am absolutely terrified, and you, LORD--how long will this continue? |
Return, O LORD, deliver me! Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake! | 4Relent, LORD, rescue me! Deliver me because of your faithfulness! |
For in death there is no remembrance of You; In the grave who will give You thanks? | 5For no one remembers you in the realm of death, In Sheol who gives you thanks? |
I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. | 6I am exhausted as I groan; all night long I drench my bed in tears; my tears saturate the cushion beneath me. |
My eye wastes away because of grief; It grows old because of all my enemies. | 7My eyes grow dim from suffering; they grow weak because of all my enemies. |
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity; For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping. | 8Turn back from me, all you who behave wickedly, for the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping! |
The LORD has heard my supplication; The LORD will receive my prayer. | 9The LORD has heard my appeal for mercy; the LORD has accepted my prayer. |
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled; Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly. | 10May all my enemies be humiliated and absolutely terrified! May they turn back and be suddenly humiliated! |
