Isaiah 26
NKJV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew Living Translation
In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: “We have a strong city; God will appoint salvation for walls and bulwarks.1In that day, everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song: Our city is strong! We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.
Open the gates, That the righteous nation which keeps the truth may enter in.2Open the gates to all who are righteous; allow the faithful to enter.
You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.3You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Trust in the LORD forever, For in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting strength.4Trust in the LORD always, for the LORD God is the eternal Rock.
For He brings down those who dwell on high, The lofty city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He brings it down to the dust.5He humbles the proud and brings down the arrogant city. He brings it down to the dust.
The foot shall tread it down— The feet of the poor And the steps of the needy.”6The poor and oppressed trample it underfoot, and the needy walk all over it.
The way of the just is uprightness; O Most Upright, You weigh the path of the just.7But for those who are righteous, the way is not steep and rough. You are a God who does what is right, and you smooth out the path ahead of them.
Yes, in the way of Your judgments, O LORD, we have waited for You; The desire of our soul is for Your name And for the remembrance of You.8LORD, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name.
With my soul I have desired You in the night, Yes, by my spirit within me I will seek You early; For when Your judgments are in the earth, The inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.9In the night I search for you; in the morning I earnestly seek you. For only when you come to judge the earth will people learn what is right.
Let grace be shown to the wicked, Yet he will not learn righteousness; In the land of uprightness he will deal unjustly, And will not behold the majesty of the LORD.10Your kindness to the wicked does not make them do good. Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong and take no notice of the LORD’s majesty.
LORD, when Your hand is lifted up, they will not see. But they will see and be ashamed For their envy of people; Yes, the fire of Your enemies shall devour them.11O LORD, they pay no attention to your upraised fist. Show them your eagerness to defend your people. Then they will be ashamed. Let your fire consume your enemies.
LORD, You will establish peace for us, For You have also done all our works in us.12LORD, you will grant us peace; all we have accomplished is really from you.
O LORD our God, masters besides You Have had dominion over us; But by You only we make mention of Your name.13O LORD our God, others have ruled us, but you alone are the one we worship.
They are dead, they will not live; They are deceased, they will not rise. Therefore You have punished and destroyed them, And made all their memory to perish.14Those we served before are dead and gone. Their departed spirits will never return! You attacked them and destroyed them, and they are long forgotten.
You have increased the nation, O LORD, You have increased the nation; You are glorified; You have expanded all the borders of the land.15O LORD, you have made our nation great; yes, you have made us great. You have extended our borders, and we give you the glory!
LORD, in trouble they have visited You, They poured out a prayer when Your chastening was upon them.16LORD, in distress we searched for you. We prayed beneath the burden of your discipline.
As a woman with child Is in pain and cries out in her pangs, When she draws near the time of her delivery, So have we been in Your sight, O LORD.17Just as a pregnant woman writhes and cries out in pain as she gives birth, so were we in your presence, LORD.
We have been with child, we have been in pain; We have, as it were, brought forth wind; We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth, Nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.18We, too, writhe in agony, but nothing comes of our suffering. We have not given salvation to the earth, nor brought life into the world.
Your dead shall live; Together with my dead body they shall arise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in dust; For your dew is like the dew of herbs, And the earth shall cast out the dead.19But those who die in the LORD will live; their bodies will rise again! Those who sleep in the earth will rise up and sing for joy! For your life-giving light will fall like dew on your people in the place of the dead! Restoration for Israel
Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past.20Go home, my people, and lock your doors! Hide yourselves for a little while until the LORD’s anger has passed.
For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain.21Look! The LORD is coming from heaven to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will no longer hide those who have been killed. They will be brought out for all to see.
