Psalm 5
NKJV Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
New King James VersionNew International Version
To the Chief Musician. With flutes. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation.1For the director of music. For pipes. A psalm of David. Listen to my words, LORD, consider my lament.
Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray.2Hear my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.3In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness, Nor shall evil dwell with You.4For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.
The boastful shall not stand in Your sight; You hate all workers of iniquity.5The arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong;
You shall destroy those who speak falsehood; The LORD abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.6you destroy those who tell lies. The bloodthirsty and deceitful you, LORD, detest.
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple.7But I, by your great love, can come into your house; in reverence I bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.8Lead me, LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make your way straight before me.
For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; Their inward part is destruction; Their throat is an open tomb; They flatter with their tongue.9Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with malice. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongues they tell lies.
Pronounce them guilty, O God! Let them fall by their own counsels; Cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions, For they have rebelled against You.10Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You.11But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.12Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
