| 1But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. | 1Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, |
| 2For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. | 2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. |
| 3For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. | 3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. |
| 4But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. | 4But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. |

| 13and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. | 13Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. |
| 14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all. | 14And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. |
| 15See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all. | 15Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. |
