New King James Version | Berean Study Bible |
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? | 1Of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—whom shall I dread? |
When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. | 2When the wicked came upon me to devour my flesh, my enemies and foes stumbled and fell. |
Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. | 3Though an army encamps around me, my heart will not fear; though a war breaks out against me, I will keep my trust. |
One thing I have desired of the LORD, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the LORD, And to inquire in His temple. | 4One thing I have asked of the LORD; this is what I desire: to dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and seek Him in His temple. |
For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock. | 5For in the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; He will conceal me under the cover of His tent; He will set me high upon a rock. |
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me; Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD. | 6Then my head will be held high above my enemies around me. At His tabernacle I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. |
Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. | 7Hear, O LORD, my voice when I call; be merciful and answer me. |
When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” | 8My heart said, “Seek His face.” Your face, O LORD, I will seek. |
Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation. | 9Hide not Your face from me, nor turn away Your servant in anger. You have been my helper; do not leave me or forsake me, O God of my salvation. |
When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the LORD will take care of me. | 10Though my father and mother forsake me, the LORD will receive me. |
Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies. | 11Teach me Your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path, because of my oppressors. |
Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me, And such as breathe out violence. | 12Do not hand me over to the will of my foes, for false witnesses rise up against me, breathing out violence. |
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. | 13Still I am certain to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. |
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! | 14Wait patiently for the LORD; be strong and courageous. Wait patiently for the LORD! |
