| 1Another time Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. | 1He entered again into a synagogue; and a man was there whose hand was withered. |
| 2Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. | 2They were watching Him to see if He would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse Him. |
| 3Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, "Stand up in front of everyone." | 3He said to the man with the withered hand, "Get up and come forward!" |
| 4Then Jesus asked them, "Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?" But they remained silent. | 4And He said to them, "Is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to kill?" But they kept silent. |
| 5He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. | 5After looking around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, He said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored. |
| 6Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus. | 6The Pharisees went out and immediately began conspiring with the Herodians against Him, as to how they might destroy Him. |

| 10For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him. | 10for He had healed many, with the result that all those who had afflictions pressed around Him in order to touch Him. |

| 19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. | 19and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Him. |
| 20Then Jesus entered a house, and again a crowd gathered, so that he and his disciples were not even able to eat. | 20And He came home, and the crowd gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal. |
| 21When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, "He is out of his mind." | 21When His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, "He has lost His senses." |
| 22And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." | 22The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons." |
| 23So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? | 23And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan? |
| 24If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. | 24"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. |
| 25If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. | 25"If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. |
| 26And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. | 26"If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! |
| 27In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house without first tying him up. Then he can plunder the strong man's house. | 27"But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. |
| 28Truly I tell you, people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, | 28"Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; |
| 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin." | 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin "-- |
| 30He said this because they were saying, "He has an impure spirit." | 30because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit." |
| 31Then Jesus' mother and brothers arrived. Standing outside, they sent someone in to call him. | 31Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him. |
| 32A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, "Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you." | 32A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You." |
| 33"Who are my mother and my brothers?" he asked. | 33Answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" |
| 34Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! | 34Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! |
| 35Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother." | 35"For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother." |
