New International Version | International Standard Version |
In you, LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame. | 1In you, LORD, I take refuge; let me never be humiliated. |
In your righteousness, rescue me and deliver me; turn your ear to me and save me. | 2Rescue and deliver me, because you are righteous. Turn your ear to me and save me. |
Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. | 3Be my sheltering refuge where I may go continuously; command my deliverance for you are my rock and fortress. |
Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel. | 4My God, deliver me from the power of the wicked and the grasp of ruthless practicers of evil. |
For you have been my hope, Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. | 5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my security since I was young. |
From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb. I will ever praise you. | 6I depended on you since birth, when you brought me from my mother's womb; I praise you continuously. |
I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge. | 7I have become an example to many that you are my strong refuge. |
My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long. | 8My mouth is filled with your praise and your splendor daily. |
Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone. | 9Don't throw me away when I am old; do not abandon me when my strength fails. |
For my enemies speak against me; those who wait to kill me conspire together. | 10For my enemies talk against me; those who seek to kill me plot together |
They say, "God has forsaken him; pursue him and seize him, for no one will rescue him." | 11and say, "God has abandoned him. Run after him and seize him, because there's no deliverer." |
Do not be far from me, my God; come quickly, God, to help me. | 12God, do not be distant from me. My God, come quickly to help me. |
May my accusers perish in shame; may those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace. | 13Let my adversaries be ashamed and consumed; let those who seek my destruction be covered with scorn and disgrace. |
As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. | 14As for me, I will hope continuously and will praise you more and more. |
My mouth will tell of your righteous deeds, of your saving acts all day long-- though I know not how to relate them all. | 15I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be. |
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone. | 16Lord GOD, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone. |
Since my youth, God, you have taught me, and to this day I declare your marvelous deeds. | 17God, you taught me from my youth, so I am still declaring your awesome deeds. |
Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come. | 18Also, when I reach old age and have gray hair, God, do not forsake me, until I have declared your power to this generation and your might to the next one. |
Your righteousness, God, reaches to the heavens, you who have done great things. Who is like you, God? | 19Your many righteous deeds, God, are great, |
Though you have made me see troubles, many and bitter, you will restore my life again; from the depths of the earth you will again bring me up. | 20God, who can compare to you, who caused me to experience troubles that were numerous and disastrous? You will return to revive me and lift me up from the depths of the earth. |
You will increase my honor and comfort me once more. | 21You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. |
I will praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing praise to you with the lyre, Holy One of Israel. | 22I also will praise you with the harp; because of your faithfulness, my God, I will praise you with the lyre— Holy One of Israel. |
My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you-- I whom you have delivered. | 23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you, whose life you have redeemed. |
My tongue will tell of your righteous acts all day long, for those who wanted to harm me have been put to shame and confusion. | 24Moreover, my tongue will speak all day about your justice; for those who seek my destruction will be utterly humiliated. |
