NET Bible | King James Bible |
As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king-- | 1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. |
I say this about the LORD, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust-- | 2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. |
he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague. | 3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. |
He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. | 4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. |
You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day, | 5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; |
the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. | 6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. |
Though a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on your right side, it will not reach you. | 7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. |
Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes--you will see the wicked paid back. | 8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. |
For you have taken refuge in the LORD, my shelter, the sovereign One. | 9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; |
No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home. | 10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. |
For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do. | 11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. |
They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. | 12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. |
You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. | 13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. |
The LORD says, "Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. | 14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. |
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. | 15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. |
I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation. | 16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation. |
