As for you, the one who lives in the shelter of the sovereign One, and resides in the protective shadow of the mighty king-- | 1He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. |
I say this about the LORD, my shelter and my stronghold, my God in whom I trust-- | 2I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" |
he will certainly rescue you from the snare of the hunter and from the destructive plague. | 3For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. |
He will shelter you with his wings; you will find safety under his wings. His faithfulness is like a shield or a protective wall. | 4He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. |
You need not fear the terrors of the night, the arrow that flies by day, | 5You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; |
the plague that comes in the darkness, or the disease that comes at noon. | 6Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon. |
Though a thousand may fall beside you, and a multitude on your right side, it will not reach you. | 7A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. |
Certainly you will see it with your very own eyes--you will see the wicked paid back. | 8You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. |
For you have taken refuge in the LORD, my shelter, the sovereign One. | 9For you have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. |
No harm will overtake you; no illness will come near your home. | 10No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent. |
For he will order his angels to protect you in all you do. | 11For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. |
They will lift you up in their hands, so you will not slip and fall on a stone. | 12They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. |
You will subdue a lion and a snake; you will trample underfoot a young lion and a serpent. | 13You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. |
The LORD says, "Because he is devoted to me, I will deliver him; I will protect him because he is loyal to me. | 14"Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. |
When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor. | 15"He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. |
I will satisfy him with long life, and will let him see my salvation. | 16"With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation." |
