For the music director; according to the alumoth-labben style; a psalm of David. I will thank the LORD with all my heart! I will tell about all your amazing deeds! | 1I will give thanks to the LORD with all my heart, I will declare all your wonderful deeds. |
I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One! | 2I will be glad and exult in you; I will sing praises to your name, Most High! |
When my enemies turn back, they trip and are defeated before you. | 3When my enemies turn back, they will stumble and perish before you. |
For you defended my just cause; from your throne you pronounced a just decision. | 4For you have brought about justice for me and my cause; you sit on the throne judging righteously. |
You terrified the nations with your battle cry; you destroyed the wicked; you permanently wiped out all memory of them. | 5You rebuked the nations, you destroyed the wicked, you wiped out their name forever and ever. |
The enemy's cities have been reduced to permanent ruins; you destroyed their cities; all memory of the enemies has perished. | 6The enemy has perished, reduced to ruins forever. You uprooted their cities, the very memory of them vanished. |
But the LORD rules forever; he reigns in a just manner. | 7But the LORD sits on his throne forever; his throne is established for judgment. |
He judges the world fairly; he makes just legal decisions for the nations. | 8He will judge the world righteously and make just decisions for the people. |
Consequently the LORD provides safety for the oppressed; he provides safety in times of trouble. | 9The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of distress. |
Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, LORD, do not abandon those who seek your help. | 10Those who know your name will trust you, for you have not forsaken those who seek you, LORD. |
Sing praises to the LORD, who rules in Zion! Tell the nations what he has done! | 11Sing praises to the LORD who dwells in Zion; declare his mighty deeds among the peoples. |
For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; he did not overlook their cry for help | 12As an avenger of blood, he remembers them; he has not forgotten the cry of the afflicted. |
when they prayed: "Have mercy on me, LORD! See how I am oppressed by those who hate me, O one who can snatch me away from the gates of death! | 13Be gracious to me, LORD, take note of my affliction, because of those who hate me. You snatch me away from the gates of death, |
Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance." | 14so I may declare everything for which you should be praised in the gates of the daughter of Zion, so I will rejoice in your deliverance. |
The nations fell into the pit they had made; their feet were caught in the net they had hidden. | 15The nations have sunk down into the pit they made, their feet are ensnared in the trap they set. |
The LORD revealed himself; he accomplished justice; the wicked were ensnared by their own actions. (Higgaion. Selah) | 16The LORD has made himself known, executing judgment. The wicked are ensnared by what their hands have made. Interlude |
The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; this is the destiny of all the nations that ignore God, | 17The wicked will turn back to where the dead are — all the nations that have forgotten God. |
for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. | 18For he will not always overlook the plight of the poor, nor will the hope of the afflicted perish forever. |
Rise up, LORD! Don't let men be defiant! May the nations be judged in your presence! | 19Rise up, LORD, do not let man prevail! The nations will be judged in your presence. |
Terrify them, LORD! Let the nations know they are mere mortals! (Selah) | 20Make them afraid, LORD, Let the nations know that they are only human. Interlude |
