For the music director; according to the alumoth-labben style; a psalm of David. I will thank the LORD with all my heart! I will tell about all your amazing deeds! | 1I will thank the LORD with all my heart; I will declare all your wondrous works. |
I will be happy and rejoice in you! I will sing praises to you, O sovereign One! | 2I will rejoice and boast about you; I will sing about your name, Most High. |
When my enemies turn back, they trip and are defeated before you. | 3When my enemies retreat, they stumble and perish before you. |
For you defended my just cause; from your throne you pronounced a just decision. | 4For you have upheld my just cause; you are seated on your throne as a righteous judge. |
You terrified the nations with your battle cry; you destroyed the wicked; you permanently wiped out all memory of them. | 5You have rebuked the nations: You have destroyed the wicked; you have erased their name forever and ever. |
The enemy's cities have been reduced to permanent ruins; you destroyed their cities; all memory of the enemies has perished. | 6The enemy has come to eternal ruin. You have uprooted the cities, and the very memory of them has perished. |
But the LORD rules forever; he reigns in a just manner. | 7But the LORD sits enthroned forever; he has established his throne for judgment. |
He judges the world fairly; he makes just legal decisions for the nations. | 8And he judges the world with righteousness; he executes judgment on the nations with fairness. |
Consequently the LORD provides safety for the oppressed; he provides safety in times of trouble. | 9The LORD is a refuge for the persecuted, a refuge in times of trouble. |
Your loyal followers trust in you, for you, LORD, do not abandon those who seek your help. | 10Those who know your name trust in you because you have not abandoned those who seek you, LORD. |
Sing praises to the LORD, who rules in Zion! Tell the nations what he has done! | 11Sing to the LORD, who dwells in Zion; proclaim his deeds among the nations. |
For the one who takes revenge against murderers took notice of the oppressed; he did not overlook their cry for help | 12For the one who seeks an accounting for bloodshed remembers them; he does not forget the cry of the oppressed. |
when they prayed: "Have mercy on me, LORD! See how I am oppressed by those who hate me, O one who can snatch me away from the gates of death! | 13Be gracious to me, LORD; consider my affliction at the hands of those who hate me. Lift me up from the gates of death, |
Then I will tell about all your praiseworthy acts; in the gates of Daughter Zion I will rejoice because of your deliverance." | 14so that I may declare all your praises. I will rejoice in your salvation within the gates of Daughter Zion. |
The nations fell into the pit they had made; their feet were caught in the net they had hidden. | 15The nations have fallen into the pit they made; their foot is caught in the net they have concealed. |
The LORD revealed himself; he accomplished justice; the wicked were ensnared by their own actions. (Higgaion. Selah) | 16The LORD has made himself known; he has executed justice, snaring the wicked by the work of their hands. Higgaion. Selah |
The wicked are turned back and sent to Sheol; this is the destiny of all the nations that ignore God, | 17The wicked will return to Sheol--all the nations that forget God. |
for the needy are not permanently ignored, the hopes of the oppressed are not forever dashed. | 18For the needy will not always be forgotten; the hope of the oppressed will not perish forever. |
Rise up, LORD! Don't let men be defiant! May the nations be judged in your presence! | 19Rise up, LORD! Do not let mere humans prevail; let the nations be judged in your presence. |
Terrify them, LORD! Let the nations know they are mere mortals! (Selah) | 20Put terror in them, LORD; let the nations know they are only humans. Selah |
