In you, O LORD, I have taken shelter! Never let me be humiliated! | 1LORD, I seek refuge in you; let me never be disgraced. |
Vindicate me by rescuing me! Listen to me! Deliver me! | 2In your justice, rescue and deliver me; listen closely to me and save me. |
Be my protector and refuge, a stronghold where I can be safe! For you are my high ridge and my stronghold. | 3Be a rock of refuge for me, where I can always go. Give the command to save me, for you are my rock and fortress. |
My God, rescue me from the power of the wicked, from the hand of the cruel oppressor! | 4Deliver me, my God, from the power of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and oppressive. |
For you give me confidence, O Lord; O LORD, I have trusted in you since I was young. | 5For you are my hope, Lord GOD, my confidence from my youth. |
I have leaned on you since birth; you pulled me from my mother's womb. I praise you continually. | 6I have leaned on you from birth; you took me from my mother's womb. My praise is always about you. |
Many are appalled when they see me, but you are my secure shelter. | 7I am like a miraculous sign to many, and you are my strong refuge. |
I praise you constantly and speak of your splendor all day long. | 8My mouth is full of praise and honor to you all day long. |
Do not reject me in my old age! When my strength fails, do not abandon me! | 9Don't discard me in my old age. As my strength fails, do not abandon me. |
For my enemies talk about me; those waiting for a chance to kill me plot my demise. | 10For my enemies talk about me, and those who spy on me plot together, |
They say, "God has abandoned him. Run and seize him, for there is no one who will rescue him!" | 11saying, "God has abandoned him; chase him and catch him, for there is no one to rescue him." |
O God, do not remain far away from me! My God, hurry and help me! | 12God, do not be far from me; my God, hurry to help me. |
May my accusers be humiliated and defeated! May those who want to harm me be covered with scorn and disgrace! | 13May my adversaries be disgraced and destroyed; may those who intend to harm me be covered with disgrace and humiliation. |
As for me, I will wait continually, and will continue to praise you. | 14But I will hope continually and will praise you more and more. |
I will tell about your justice, and all day long proclaim your salvation, though I cannot fathom its full extent. | 15My mouth will tell about your righteousness and your salvation all day long, though I cannot sum them up. |
I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign LORD. I will proclaim your justice--yours alone. | 16I come because of the mighty acts of the Lord GOD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone. |
O God, you have taught me since I was young, and I am still declaring your amazing deeds. | 17God, you have taught me from my youth, and I still proclaim your wondrous works. |
Even when I am old and gray, O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power. | 18Even while I am old and gray, God, do not abandon me, while I proclaim your power to another generation, your strength to all who are to come. |
Your justice, O God, extends to the skies above; you have done great things. O God, who can compare to you? | 19Your righteousness reaches the heights, God, you who have done great things; God, who is like you? |
Though you have allowed me to experience much trouble and distress, revive me once again! Bring me up once again from the depths of the earth! | 20You caused me to experience many troubles and misfortunes, but you will revive me again. You will bring me up again, even from the depths of the earth. |
Raise me to a position of great honor! Turn and comfort me! | 21You will increase my honor and comfort me once again. |
I will express my thanks to you with a stringed instrument, praising your faithfulness, O my God! I will sing praises to you accompanied by a harp, O Holy One of Israel! | 22Therefore, I will praise you with a harp for your faithfulness, my God; I will sing to you with a lyre, Holy One of Israel. |
My lips will shout for joy! Yes, I will sing your praises! I will praise you when you rescue me! | 23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you because you have redeemed me. |
All day long my tongue will also tell about your justice, for those who want to harm me will be embarrassed and ashamed. | 24Therefore, my tongue will proclaim your righteousness all day long, for those who intend to harm me will be disgraced and confounded. |
