For the choir director; according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph. My voice rises to God, and I will cry aloud; My voice rises to God, and He will hear me. | 1For the director of music. For Jeduthun. Of Asaph. A psalm. I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me. |
In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord; In the night my hand was stretched out without weariness; My soul refused to be comforted. | 2When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted. |
When I remember God, then I am disturbed; When I sigh, then my spirit grows faint. Selah. | 3I remembered you, God, and I groaned; I meditated, and my spirit grew faint. |
You have held my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. | 4You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak. |
I have considered the days of old, The years of long ago. | 5I thought about the former days, the years of long ago; |
I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, And my spirit ponders: | 6I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked: |
Will the Lord reject forever? And will He never be favorable again? | 7"Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again? |
Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? | 8Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time? |
Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah. | 9Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion?" |
Then I said, "It is my grief, That the right hand of the Most High has changed." | 10Then I thought, "To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. |
I shall remember the deeds of the LORD; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. | 11I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. |
I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds. | 12I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds." |
Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? | 13Your ways, God, are holy. What god is as great as our God? |
You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples. | 14You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples. |
You have by Your power redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah. | 15With your mighty arm you redeemed your people, the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. |
The waters saw You, O God; The waters saw You, they were in anguish; The deeps also trembled. | 16The waters saw you, God, the waters saw you and writhed; the very depths were convulsed. |
The clouds poured out water; The skies gave forth a sound; Your arrows flashed here and there. | 17The clouds poured down water, the heavens resounded with thunder; your arrows flashed back and forth. |
The sound of Your thunder was in the whirlwind; The lightnings lit up the world; The earth trembled and shook. | 18Your thunder was heard in the whirlwind, your lightning lit up the world; the earth trembled and quaked. |
Your way was in the sea And Your paths in the mighty waters, And Your footprints may not be known. | 19Your path led through the sea, your way through the mighty waters, though your footprints were not seen. |
You led Your people like a flock By the hand of Moses and Aaron. | 20You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron. |
