| 1Then Moses assembled all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and said to them, "These are the things that the LORD has commanded you to do: | 1Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, "These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do: |
| 2"For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, a sabbath of complete rest to the LORD; whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. | 2For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a day of sabbath rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death. |
| 3"You shall not kindle a fire in any of your dwellings on the sabbath day." | 3Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day." |
| 4Moses spoke to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, saying, "This is the thing which the LORD has commanded, saying, | 4Moses said to the whole Israelite community, "This is what the LORD has commanded: |
| 5'Take from among you a contribution to the LORD; whoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it as the LORD'S contribution: gold, silver, and bronze, | 5From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering of gold, silver and bronze; |
| 6and blue, purple and scarlet material, fine linen, goats' hair, | 6blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; |
| 7and rams' skins dyed red, and porpoise skins, and acacia wood, | 7ram skins dyed red and another type of durable leather; acacia wood; |
| 8and oil for lighting, and spices for the anointing oil, and for the fragrant incense, | 8olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; |
| 9and onyx stones and setting stones for the ephod and for the breastpiece. | 9and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. |
| 10'Let every skillful man among you come, and make all that the LORD has commanded: | 10"All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded: |
| 11the tabernacle, its tent and its covering, its hooks and its boards, its bars, its pillars, and its sockets; | 11the tabernacle with its tent and its covering, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts and bases; |
| 12the ark and its poles, the mercy seat, and the curtain of the screen; | 12the ark with its poles and the atonement cover and the curtain that shields it; |
| 13the table and its poles, and all its utensils, and the bread of the Presence; | 13the table with its poles and all its articles and the bread of the Presence; |
| 14the lampstand also for the light and its utensils and its lamps and the oil for the light; | 14the lampstand that is for light with its accessories, lamps and oil for the light; |
| 15and the altar of incense and its poles, and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense, and the screen for the doorway at the entrance of the tabernacle; | 15the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil and the fragrant incense; the curtain for the doorway at the entrance to the tabernacle; |
| 16the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles, and all its utensils, the basin and its stand; | 16the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles and all its utensils; the bronze basin with its stand; |
| 17the hangings of the court, its pillars and its sockets, and the screen for the gate of the court; | 17the curtains of the courtyard with its posts and bases, and the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard; |
| 18the pegs of the tabernacle and the pegs of the court and their cords; | 18the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the courtyard, and their ropes; |
| 19the woven garments for ministering in the holy place, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests.'" | 19the woven garments worn for ministering in the sanctuary--both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests." |
| 20Then all the congregation of the sons of Israel departed from Moses' presence. | 20Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses' presence, |
| 21Everyone whose heart stirred him and everyone whose spirit moved him came and brought the LORD'S contribution for the work of the tent of meeting and for all its service and for the holy garments. | 21and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved them came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the tent of meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments. |
| 22Then all whose hearts moved them, both men and women, came and brought brooches and earrings and signet rings and bracelets, all articles of gold; so did every man who presented an offering of gold to the LORD. | 22All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD. |
| 23Every man, who had in his possession blue and purple and scarlet material and fine linen and goats' hair and rams' skins dyed red and porpoise skins, brought them. | 23Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or the other durable leather brought them. |
| 24Everyone who could make a contribution of silver and bronze brought the LORD'S contribution; and every man who had in his possession acacia wood for any work of the service brought it. | 24Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the LORD, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it. |
| 25All the skilled women spun with their hands, and brought what they had spun, in blue and purple and scarlet material and in fine linen. | 25Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun--blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. |
| 26All the women whose heart stirred with a skill spun the goats' hair. | 26And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. |
| 27The rulers brought the onyx stones and the stones for setting for the ephod and for the breastpiece; | 27The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. |
| 28and the spice and the oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. | 28They also brought spices and olive oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. |
| 29The Israelites, all the men and women, whose heart moved them to bring material for all the work, which the LORD had commanded through Moses to be done, brought a freewill offering to the LORD. | 29All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do. |
| 30Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. | 30Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, |
| 31"And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge and in all craftsmanship; | 31and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills-- |
| 32to make designs for working in gold and in silver and in bronze, | 32to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, |
| 33and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work. | 33to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic crafts. |
| 34"He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. | 34And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamak, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. |
| 35"He has filled them with skill to perform every work of an engraver and of a designer and of an embroiderer, in blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs. | 35He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers--all of them skilled workers and designers. |
