A Prayer of David. Incline Your ear, O LORD, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy. | 1A prayer of David. Listen O LORD! Answer me! For I am oppressed and needy. |
Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man; O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. | 2Protect me, for I am loyal! O my God, deliver your servant, who trusts in you! |
Be gracious to me, O Lord, For to You I cry all day long. | 3Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I cry out to you all day long! |
Make glad the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. | 4Make your servant glad, for to you, O Lord, I pray! |
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. | 5Certainly O Lord, you are kind and forgiving, and show great faithfulness to all who cry out to you. |
Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And give heed to the voice of my supplications! | 6O LORD, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my plea for mercy! |
In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You, For You will answer me. | 7In my time of trouble I cry out to you, for you will answer me. |
There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours. | 8None can compare to you among the gods, O Lord! Your exploits are incomparable! |
All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. | 9All the nations, whom you created, will come and worship you, O Lord. They will honor your name. |
For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God. | 10For you are great and do amazing things. You alone are God. |
Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. | 11O LORD, teach me how you want me to live! Then I will obey your commands. Make me wholeheartedly committed to you! |
I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever. | 12O Lord, my God, I will give you thanks with my whole heart! I will honor your name continually! |
For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. | 13For you will extend your great loyal love to me, and will deliver my life from the depths of Sheol. |
O God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a band of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them. | 14O God, arrogant men attack me; a gang of ruthless men, who do not respect you, seek my life. |
But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. | 15But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and merciful God. You are patient and demonstrate great loyal love and faithfulness. |
Turn to me, and be gracious to me; Oh grant Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your handmaid. | 16Turn toward me and have mercy on me! Give your servant your strength! Deliver your slave! |
Show me a sign for good, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me. | 17Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O LORD, will help me and comfort me. |
