A Prayer of David. Incline Your ear, O LORD, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy. | 1Listen, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. |
Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man; O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. | 2Protect my life, for I am faithful. You are my God; save your servant who trusts in you. |
Be gracious to me, O Lord, For to You I cry all day long. | 3Be gracious to me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. |
Make glad the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. | 4Bring joy to your servant's life, because I appeal to you, Lord. |
For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. | 5For you, Lord, are kind and ready to forgive, abounding in faithful love to all who call on you. |
Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And give heed to the voice of my supplications! | 6LORD, hear my prayer; listen to my plea for mercy. |
In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You, For You will answer me. | 7I call on you in the day of my distress, for you will answer me. |
There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours. | 8Lord, there is no one like you among the gods, and there are no works like yours. |
All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. | 9All the nations you have made will come and bow down before you, Lord, and will honor your name. |
For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God. | 10For you are great and perform wonders; you alone are God. |
Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. | 11Teach me your way, LORD, and I will live by your truth. Give me an undivided mind to fear your name. |
I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever. | 12I will praise you with all my heart, Lord my God, and will honor your name forever. |
For Your lovingkindness toward me is great, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol. | 13For your faithful love for me is great, and you rescue my life from the depths of Sheol. |
O God, arrogant men have risen up against me, And a band of violent men have sought my life, And they have not set You before them. | 14God, arrogant people have attacked me; a gang of ruthless men intends to kill me. They do not let you guide them. |
But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth. | 15But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth. |
Turn to me, and be gracious to me; Oh grant Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your handmaid. | 16Turn to me and be gracious to me. Give your strength to your servant; save the son of your female servant. |
Show me a sign for good, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, O LORD, have helped me and comforted me. | 17Show me a sign of your goodness; my enemies will see and be put to shame because you, LORD, have helped and comforted me. |
